Are springs sufficient for sporadic track events?
Realistically, I may only be able to make it out maybe 1-2 events per year if that. Rather than drop 3k+ on a set of coilovers I was curious if springs would suffice as I still want the aesthetics. I have a set of KW Clubsports on order however am thinking about canceling due to false promises of availability and lack of response. All my previous M's have had coils so I'm completely clueless with the recommended spring setups if going that direction.

Depends on you and what kind of driver you are.
Some people are perfectly fine tracking 100% stock cars and do it over and over. Others prefer to upgrade parts to either go faster or perform better, or parts that wear out quickly. One of my old instructors when I did a few bmw club events, used to bring one of his stock bmws and track it during instructor sessions. He had an E36 M3 euro model, E46 M3, 1M, maybe a few more can't remember, all 100% stock. He would run circles around some with "track prepped" similar cars except for maybe other instructors. He was perfectly fine with that and never cared to mod any of his cars.

I had Swift springs on and just switched to the Clubsports. I think the springs were plenty if I were just doing a couple of days a year. I do at least 1/month so the Clubsports were worth it for me, but I thought the swifts were fine. Before springs though I would definitely recommend the camber plates as well. All-in-all buying both camber plates and springs will still be a fraction of the Clubsports cost.

I'm going to install Eibach Pro spring set next weekend. (Bilstein B12 set to replace KW V3). You can try mine once I get it settled in.
I'm still debating camber plate or not though. It's something nice to be done together one off |

Nice, the B12 set is actually a good idea as well for me being it will also replace my 77k mile shocks/struts rather than just the springs. Will be curious to see the stance on your car when done.

I'll probably regret not getting camber plate and bought a new set of strut mounts for 240 bucks. Gonna be sunk cost one way or another. |

With the B12s you could definitely do a slightly harder spring like Swifts. Or the Eibachs.
That + camber plates is a great goldilocks setup. I used to track my E46M like that and have tracked two student's E9Xs with the setup, it's great! |

I've had many sets of GC street, they always deliver. That said, the other ones must be good as well, lots of happy campers with either

Rookie question here, are you saying you have a choice which spring setup/brand you'd like to go with when buying the B12 set? Or do they all come with the Eibachs. I'd prefer something that lowers a bit more than the Eibachs on that note.

looks like swift spec r has more drop than eibach. On paper, Eibach -0.8F/-0.6R (https://eibach.com/us/i-2516-pro-kit...4-springs.html) Swift spec-r -1.0F/-0.7R (http://www.swiftsprings.com/products...prings-spec-r/) |

Should be good with camber plates and maxing out negative camber up front.
I only switched to coilovers when I was attending ~10-15 events per year Just try to make sure brakes and tire wear are doing ok |

The B12 kit is bilstein B6 or B8 (I never remember) shocks with eibach springs. Instead of getting the B12 you can buy those same shocks and then add swift springs or whatever you prefer Or you get the B12 kit and then sell the new Eibach springs that come with it. The B6/8 is valved around 30% harder than oem so it's happy with aftermarket springs. Personally I would not put a spring other than the eibachs (mild drop --> mild rate increase) on stock shocks as their lives will be considerably shorter |

I think the B6 is the more aggressive of the 2. That said I think I may have a plan to look into the B6/B8 set with Swifts and possibly camber plates. This still should be only 1/3 of the KW CS cost.
