G1 Install & I have a few questions please advise!

I have a few questions with my supercharger install, Please forgive me if they have already been answered. My car is a 2011 E92 M3 DTC.

1. I had Alex do a motor and DCT tune about a year ago. The shits were crisp and would lunge forward during shits (I loved it). Well, when I had to read my ECU and send the file to ESS it would not work due to it being tuned. They had to send a stock file, I had to upload it and then send that file to them. They sent 2 files to be uploaded (All went well). Now the car shits are NOT crisp at all. They are all muted/ I did email and ask about this and was told, the DCT tune was not affected. I know my car and it's not the same! Has anyone had this issue? And has anyone had there DCT AFTER a supercharge install? (can it be done?) I am really thinking about doing it again due to the slow shits. I will say after starting the car and pushing to the right once it goes into "D", not "1" (as if was tunes/flashed).

2 When shifting at higher RPM's I hear like a chirp or very short squeal from the motor area (sound like the belt is slipping). Is that normal?
I went with the G1 kit and I did the install myself.

So it's possible that the DCT tune was overwritten but I would ask Alex@Alpine to be certain. He would most likely help you out and allow you the re-install for free or at a discounted rate. However you mention that the car starts in D, which would mean that the DCT tune IS in fact running the GTS DCT tune...
It may just feel so different with the supercharger that you aren't used to it.

In regards to the servotronic, this is done with the ECU tune, so that was definitely overwritten. I'm not sure if ESS has an option for this or if there's a way Alex can add that to your tune independently.

For both, I would definitely call Alex first.

Good luck.

I did it myself. It's the very last thing I stated. .....Thanks, I think will just have to do that(Call Alex). I have been spoiled with the shifts and the stiff steering.

Also, It's NOT the feel of the supercharger, shift are slow. Real slow. I swear, whatever Alex did to my car has spoiled the F##k out of me....my car is fast a hell with boost and all I want is my damn quick shift back!

you could have asked Alex to just tune your car specifically for that G1 supercharger...

Use the ESS software to reset the adaptation.
It is an option on their menu.

After working with Alex on the GTS+3.62 tune, It was not right until we use the ESS software to reset the adaptation.

According to Alex, the shifts happens as by the torque of the engine. So the actual signal to shift is from the engine, not the DCT.

Thanks, I will hook it up tomorrow and see if I can do that. Will it be right in my face "Reset Adaptation" or will I have to hunt for it. Also, did that also fix the steering stiffness as well? As far as the shifts in "D" I am not worried about what I am more concerned with is when I am using the paddles or the shift knob those have been slow for me

My car is ESS SC.
I worked with Alex and he knows the ESS software well and provided insight into the relationship between the Engine tune and the DCT tune.

The OP has a similar issue to the one I had, and I resolved it, per Alex advice, by reseting the ESS adaptation.

Alex does not have to do ESS tune to be helpful.

I have no special knowledge beyond my experience. YMMV

UPDATE: After getting my local tuner to flash the DCT to the EU GTS (he said it was the same as just the EU flash) the car just did not feel just right. So I reached out to Alex and set up a date for him to flash it. All went well (He is a great guy, I had to make him take my money) with the flash but it still did not shift right. Then I realized that ESS sells a flash for SC cars.....I felt so stupid! I bought it, had it overnighted, flashed it. and now I can't stop smiling! So long story short if you go ESS SC just get the DCT tune/flash and call it a day!

Doesn't ESS charge like 500 bucks for the DCT flash?

Yep, what's the issue with that. This is not a Civic. How much is a custom flash? It's a fair price when compared to others.

I am going to make a video on tips for the install and post to youtube. There are a few things I would do differently and replace some items while it's all apart. How soon will you doing the install and what part of VA are you in?
