wheels in satin black, want to strip and cerakote?

after seeing slicer cerakote lip e88's i've been wanting to strip my satin black wheels and cerakote them in a similar silver

does anyone have experience with this process and/or how much would i be looking at cost-wise for all 4 wheels?

thanks!

if you're looking for a specific finish powdercoat will have more options and cheaper.

not true. there are very limited color options for powder coat. most wheels i send out to be refinished custom colors cannot be done in powder coat due to limited options. Ceracoat has a much larger catalogue, but in my area there are no shops that really do it.

Throatpunch thanks for the recommendation. I should have stated in my initial post that i'm staying away from powdercoating as i don't want to heat the aluminum.

painting or cerakote are what i'm after.

SFCM3 just noticed your signature. i think i follow you on instagram! your cars are sooo nice. even though it's not cerakote, where do you send your wheels to be refinished?

Cerakote requires removal of the existing finish. My provider media blasts the surface. However chemically removing the paint first may be necessary. Expect $250 to $350 per wheel to do it properly.

Note - some forms of Cerakote require heat to cure. I am using an air-cure version for safe use with AL. Powder coating is heat intensive. You need to be very careful to find a provider that does it safely.

My understanding is cerakote is a much tougher finish, I would imagine its great on wheels. I had my valve covers cerakoted locally recently for a very reasonable amount but like most other things, cost depends a lot on your location.
