Very satisfied, the savings paid off right away and I am on my 3rd replacement ring which I replace with my tires after 8 track days on average.

Yes, if you can keep the components cool, the wear rate will go down significantly.

Weight of the Aerorotor replacement kit

Can anyone confirm the "up to 8lbs weight savings" of the initial post?

If I got it right, the OEM rotor+hat weighs 22.5lbs. This means the Stoptech rotor+hat should weigh about 18.5lbs.

I've seen elsewhere that the corresponding replacement kits from RacingBrake and PerformanceFriction weigh about 18.5lbs.

So just wondering if StopTech is in the same ballpark.

Any pictures of these mounted with stock calipers?

Wonder how these stack up against the PFC DD V3.

pom_m3 has it on his car.

At $800 shipped from TireRack, it's cheaper than replacement rings for PFC alone. I plan to go this route for now.

I think I have the answer.

Both Bimmerworld and TireRack informed that they weigh in a roughly 23 lbs per side.

I'm surprised about this, as I don't see the benefit of StopTech over PFC, or even RacingBrake, just to save $200 (I believe the PFCs run $1000 for a set) when an additional $200 for the PFCs also buys you a 9 lbs savings (+ maybe another 6 lbs in rotational mass).

Reviving this thread a bit... Does anyone have a current source for these? I searched on Tire Rack and they said they aren't available yet for our cars... I found them on Zeckhausen, but was hoping to price shop a little bit...

Turner/ECS carries other StopTech stuff, maybe they have the rotors too?

Nope... I've looked there in the past. ECS only carries their own 2 piece rotors that are slotted and drilled, and when speaking to the ECS guys at the CCA Oktoberfest, they admitted that they weren't really track duty rotors... They were more geared for street cars that just want to look the part...

**EDIT** Holy crap, they're on ECS tuning... That must be brand new because I know for a fact they haven't been there. I went on their site looking at the F80 retrofit kits and they list them now... Damn! Its like they heard me!

Of course, they only make the fronts... I cross referenced the part numbers to the Zeckhausen site and it looks like they're only offering the drilled version at this time... Dammit...

I have the slotted set of these on my car and got them through a friend of mine who has a wholesale account through Tire Rack in June. I had to search them on Tire Rack’s site via the part number in a Google search.

Porterfield's website actually stocks them, price is basically the same as Zeckhausen. I'd probably order from Dave on the basis that his customer service is top-notch and he is always an immense help.
