KW V3 w/ Swift spring upgrade
I am purchasing a set of KW V3s and have the option of upgrading the springs to swift springs. I’ve scrolled through the forum and have seen lots of info regarding this upgrade. In short, what swift springs should i go with to pair with the KW v3 for normally driving applications and spirited driving (mountains). I do not intend on tracking the car. Thanks!

For the rear, do you think it needs to be stiffer than the V3 rear spring rate? The V3 rear spring rate is 630 lbf/in. You should be fine increasing the rear spring rate by 200 lbf/in (maybe 300 lbf/in) before needing to revalve the damper. For a street only driven car the V3 supplied rate is a decent spring rate for the street. I’d recommend going no higher than 700 lbf/in. Anything higher would put you in the dual-use (street-track) rates.
The front isn’t as easy because V3 comes with a progressive rate spring (gets stiffer with deflection), however, picking a rear rate helps to select an appropriate front rate. I’d recommend either F/R 350/630 lbf/in or 400/700 lbf/in. Determining the front spring length is probably the must difficult thing to do. Rear is as simple as measuring the length of the V3 rear spring. Did any of the other threads discussing conversion to linear springs list the spring lengths used? Spring inner diameter is 60 or 65 mm - did any of the threads list spring ID? You’ll most likely need to run a helper spring (and a coupler with the main spring) on the front to keep the main spring seated at full droop. Last edited by M3SQRD; 01-18-2024 at 08:44 AM.. |
