hard staining on polished LMs

I've noticed these stain spots on some of my LMs on the polished lips. I've tried sonax full effect wheel cleaner and mother's polish but it doesn't clean off. What can I do to clean these off?

Are the lips bare metal or is there a clear coat? if its bare metal, then a simple mag polish will bring them back to life. if thats not working, then they are etched and a light sanding may be required.

if they are clear coated, then the coating itself is likely ruined and will need to be removed/reapplied or just removed and polished out.

There's no clear coat just straight polished. Mother's polish isn't doing the job. This is after using mother's polish. That milky mark is still there.

I've tried sonax full effect cleaner, vingear, clay bar, and mother's mag aluminum polish with no effect. Is sand the only method left?

Looks like metal corrosion. Did you use some cheap wheel cleaner? Like the spray ones? Do you frequently use auto car washes?

Polished lips will do that if you let water sit on it for too long.

Once you polish them out, I recommend you ceramic coat the wheels, that will help prevent that, but they'll still require frequent up keep.

I got tired of always cleaning and polishing them, so I got clear coated lips.

Might be from the storm water during the new year weekend. Gonna try some white diamond on it when I have the chance.

Do not use wheel cleaners and avoid hard water. SoCal is well known for hard water. Get a water softener if you use it to wash your car.

If it is already etched, you will need to get it taken apart, polished and put back together. Probably clear coat the wheels while you're at it.
