FML left windows open in thunderstorm!

SO my sunroof wasn't working correctly today in my 09 M3 DCT. So I tried putting the windows and sunroof down with my key and the windows worked and sunroof didn't. So im pretty sure I put the windows up before going back inside and when I came up about 2 hours later they were down and my car was all rained on. Floor mats wet, leather, EVERYTHING! I don't know what kind of damage this will do to my car but I dried everything off and it all seems fine. I'll wait to the morning to see what happens. Has this ever happened to anyone? And what kind of problems do you think I will run into...electrical, water damage, etc etc...

Did you get the water below the floor padding? It may seem dry to the touch, but there's a thick layer of rubber and water will sit below it without you ever knowing.

One way to remove it is to fold up an edge and wedge something relatively low profile between the floor and padding so that there is open air. Aim an air mover into it and run a dehumidifier. It can take 3 or 4 days to get that lower water out.

As far as possible problems you can have? Oh my, sky's the limit.

first try a wetvac and get as much water as possible out
then i'd turn on the car when its parked outside
set the heater to max, direct all air to the vents for the feet
turn air circulation to max and just let it sit there. with one of the windows cracked a little open
obviously take precautions that it doesn't get stolen

That will not get the water under the sound deadening material. Not that what you're saying can hurt anything, but it's spinning your tires, so to speak.
