e90 M3 rear differential service
Anyone know anything about this?
Took my car in to have it looked at because I ran the front end into a curb and needed some parts. Anyways, my service adviser told me that my car is due for a "rear differential service"...and he said it's a major service...didn't think much about it until after I left...now I'm wondering what it is? 2012 M3 with around 25,000 miles on it with 4000 or so track miles. |

It usually is just changing the rear differential fluid. The fluid itself is $150 in OEM parts or you can buy other fluid for less. The actual drain and fill procedure is pretty straight forward. Any shop should be able to do this for you. Think of it as an oil change for rear differential.
I believe it is done every 30k miles.

If it's a '12 w/25k miles you should still be covered by the maintenance program. In which case it would be free to you. The service is linked to an oil service, so you should get that done as well.
