Jacking Points - Replacement Pad Part #

The jacking points on my car had become pretty "ratty" over 4 years of jacking up and down and placing on jack stands, so I replaced them, which is very simple and obvious when you get the replacement pads - you just jam a screwdriver into the side to break the tabs and lever out.

Finding the pad was not that easy as they weren't in an "obvious" section, so here is the BMW part number for replacing the plastic pads

51717237195

$14.35 on Peske, about $12.50 from getBMWparts.com

They are "hidden" in section 51, vehicle trim, "sealing caps and plugs" of the parts catalogue

Hope this helps!

Garage List
i had to yank mine out for the t-hooks to tie it down to the trailer. i just place them back in and hold them by hand with a reverse logic pad adapter as i carefully pump up the jack to get it lifted. i just bought some hockey pucks (impossible to find in houston, btw), and will cut them to fit and just start using them exclusively.

Once you see the new parts, it will be obvious. There is a small slit for a screw driver to access the plastic tab. I just pushed the tab and then levered the pad out. The new ones just click right in with a sharp tap from your hand...or the special BMW tool available online for $149.

just found out that three of mine are missing.... any reason the dealer or shops would take them out? Is there a better solution than replacing stock pieces?
