2 resonate or not 2 resonate....

Hey guys,

Trying to decide between x-pipe options from M3World (ie Dave)
1. HFC with resonators
1. HFC without resonators

I already have the Evolve valved rear section.

Anyone in Sydney with any of the above that I can come and check out?

If you guys come across soundclips of the above options, post em up here.

I've already posted this one it's the non resonated X pipe with High flow cats and rear section with valves open. It's quite a bit louder than the non resonated, barks quite a bit bit it does sound great on the highway

Sound on this is quite accurate, I'll find a fully resonated clip, bit keep in mind it's not the evolve rear section

Here's another one, the full X pipe, High Flow Cats and resonators with the Corsa rear. Tone changes quite some with different rear exhaust designs, and the capability of the rear mufflers to quieten down the whole system comes into play

I have full system valved with HFC cats and resonators. You won't gain anything worth writing home about being non resonated other then drone and noise.... My 0.02c

I'm not after power. Just sound. I dont want a dirty raspy sound either. I have mates who have removed the resonators from a golf r32 and c63 and they're louder but don't sound great.

IMO if you're going to go with HFC's then I would skip the resonators. If you're going catless then you should get some resonators. From my experience full catless and no resonators is too much for most lol

Quad resonator gave me a very nice exotic whine at full song.

I added a pair of HFC because my bumper (AW) was turning yellow and that brought back the raspy sound.

Your JB should be fine with Quad.

I am definitely not going catless. Issues with EPA, cops and not to mention burnt rear bumpers

I've got a full evolve valved system with resonated x-pipe. Love the result but a slight drone.

I'm in Sydney and happy to catch up, just PM me your number.

At $2000 per cylinder fine catless is not worth the risk. The cats we use are not raspy and if you listen to the AW E 90 in the first vid there is zero rasp and some drone between 1500 and 2000 RPM

You could say I know all these systems quite well and the best IMO is the HFC/Resonated as a daily driver but for the weekender non resonated sounds so good. Both are plenty loud enough but not over the top, but non resonated quite a bit louder

The resonated pipes have had a great deal of time in R&D ensuring the least amount of drone and bad noise, they are a larger than stock resonator to make up for the primary cat delete.
Whatever way you go I'm sure you will be pleased, performance in either is the same

I would recommend adding them, but having the option to remove them and place a test pipe section. I am currently running the full Evolve unit and sometimes I wish the secondaries were off. I think with a full catless setup it would sound very similar to the IPE setup.

Like quite a few here, I'd suggest going for a resonated X-pipe. I have a full M3World system on mine - HF catted/resonated X-pipe and valved rear section - and could not be happier with the outcome. Plenty loud enough for me when I want with valves open, and in that mode there is no unpleasant rasp or resonance; only a touch of drone in a small rpm band below 2K rpm.
