Curious of you guys thoughts my m3 just started making this noise, my rod bearing have been done already within the last 5k miles. Anyone have this issue and get it resolved or know what it could be? youtube link below

Hey Dave, not sure what to listen after mate but if the ticking its injectors sounding nice in my ears. Seems you're filming from top, I'd listen in the bottom if you search for bearing noise. There is a very low "gluck" sound, is that what you mean?

Sounds almost like a light thudding noise that can be heard when the car is up to temp I'll try to add another link to hear the noise more clearly

Yeah it's deep down in the bowels, you can hear it's a low revolution heavy piece on idle - could it be the fly wheel or main bearing

I’ve heard it as well on my e90 m3. At first I thought it might be rod bearing related but it seems more prevalent on idle and doesn’t have the higher pitched fluttering on rev to 2.5-3k that seems to characterize the bearing noise.
This noise is lower pitched and almost sounds as though something is loose and needs to be torqued down. The second video posted in the thread is perfect in tone, frequency, and location (seems to be low and just drivers side of central on mine as well). The noise doesn’t go away with engaging the clutch on my manual. Could it be fan belt/accessory related? |

Reviving for update...
Has anyone figured out the cause of this sound? I had the rod bearings go out before so I know it's not that sound. New engine has just over 35k miles and now im starting to hear the same low thud sound in idle. It's keeping me up at night since I'm out of warranty period. |

Yes....I had rod bearing failure that led to total engine loss and had it replaced. Now the new engine at 35k miles has the same sound herd in the video that the op posted. Deep down you can hear the thud thud at idle.
Just for info my friend in his e60 m5 also had rod bearing failure and had to replace his whole engine. I believe his motor was at 90k when it happened |

Does anyone know what this noise is? My car has it at 78k miles. I did the rod bearings on the car at 76k, the noise didn't change. Engine mounts are new.
