Hey look! My rod bearings didn't blow out today! UPDATE, my rod bearings FINALLY.....

As the old saying goes bad news will travel farther than good news and since most people don't share their good experiences online and only the bad ones, I just wanted to make it public that today I red-lined my 2011 E90 M3 with 96k miles with the original bearings and the rod bearings did not spin and my engine did not blow.

So if there were 65,000 S65 engines built and 10% of them failed/or will fail due to the bearings I must have one of the 58,000 good ones, go figure!

Oh, I also flew in an airplane this week and it didn't crash. I also filed a hurricane claim this year and the insurance company paid on time and fairly. And before posting this thread I ordered pizza online and it just arrived, on time!

6 months UPDATE:

My OEM rod bearings have FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!........................................ .......... crossed 100k miles! I indeed must have purchased one of estimated 58,000 good S65 engines. What a blessing!

Will post back in another 12 months once it reaches 110k.

Cheers!

For me it’s no big deal to redline. I would not have the car if I was not comfortable redlining it.

Wait, we up to a 10% failure rate now? I thought the failure rate was low single digits

Rod bearings said they won't fail and are not afraid of redlining, M3post says otherwise...
