Braided Steel Clutch Line
Has anyone here tried a braided stainless steel clutch line on a E9X 6MT? I'd be curious on driving impressions and which line you used.
I'm interested on improving clutch pedal feel on a 2008 E92 M3. It's had a vague clutch pedal feel since I bought the car new in 2008. I would like the clutch to engage at the same travel point each shift (it seems a bit variable), and I'd like to be able to feel when the clutch engages with my foot like I could on my 96 Integra GSR and the 997 911s that I've driven. Other than that, this car has been quite a peach over the last 14 years!! It's a low mileage garage queen. I may also trying to get a good shop to bleed the clutch system of all air. Additionally, I've read that there are ways to get the clutch to engage lower in the travel of the pedal which may help. The only mods I have is the ultimate clutch pedal (helper spring deleted) and the BMS clutch stop. Those modifications helped a bit but not totally. |

It was years ago that braided lines were an upgrade, when factory lines weren't.

I see. Do you guys have any suggestions on trying to improve feeling the engagement point of the clutch and improving the consistency of where that engagement point is? I've been driving manual cars for 25 years and this M3 seems to be the hardest to consistently find the engagement point.

remove the helper spring from the clutch pedal,
or buy an ultimate clutch pedal.

For sure. I've done both of those, and they helped but not fully.
My guess is that I either have a clutch delay valve (forums report variable answers on whether this is a thing in the E9x M3, might depend on the build date) or that there is air in the system somehow. This is a braided line that I found online: https://www.prolinebraidedlines.com/...ed-clutch-line |
