i cant even imagine the feeling of "wtf are you kidding me right now" that was going through your mind when this happened.. and then the "WTF ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW" feeling that was taking place as she drove away after hitting you hard enough to move the car over half a foot or better.

glad you're ok man... good thing you found her or shed have likely hurt herself and someone else as well.

I'm glad you are okay but I'm terribly disappointed that you did not press charges on her. DWI'ers need a harder lesson than just loss of license and insurance hikes.

They both would have been in jail...facing a felony assault and battery. Could be a minimum of 1 yr. in jail.

Thank you guys for all the support, really, thank you. I am going to attempt to request the 911 call on Monday, I did a few google searches, and found that there is a forum at the local police station that lets you request it.

Monday I will also post pictures of the damage and the kicks with her shoe marks on it.

Here is another video which shows more in detail how hard she hit me, and how fast she ran...

I'm with the rest of the posters here. Press assault charges and go after civil penalties. DUI "penalties" are a bad joke and insufficient--people like this need to face the full consequences of their actions. I commend your calm thinking and cool head--pretty hard to do when someones assaults you with a deadly weapon (car) then proceeds to carry out a tantrum with their hands and feet.

You Sir, have class and also my respect. We need more people like this in the world where litigation and the instinct to sue is so common.

...I bet she must have been pretty too

First - Bravo Finnegan... I couldn't agree more...

It doesn't matter. You should press charges. She will only continue this lifestyle.

The limited research shows that someone is highly intoxicated >50-80 times on the road prior to being caught once.

The property damage alone is one thing, but consider if there was a human between your car and hers. She would have acted EXACTLY the same way.

Not pressing charges enables her. She should be in deep shit, because she acted inappropriately, drunk or not. Don't be an enabler.

Sorry this sounds harsh, but our justice system is a joke and continues to enable those with problems with alcohol abuse and alcoholism. Most alcohol & automotive related offenses are slaps on the wrist considering the big picture of how much of a problem it is.

She needs to be responsible for all of her actions... and if she was only double the legal limit, then she should still possess the insight to not act out & be belligerent.

I do applaud your serenity considering all of this. I too agree that you shouldn't create a financial burden on her, but regarding her behavior - she should have consequences for her behavior.

How do you feel if she killed someone next time? I bet you'd feel like an ass for not teaching her a lesson.
That is if prison time really mean anything for them. Look at Lindsey, Paris, caught DUI numerous time and what has the legal system done to keep rest of us safe from them. Nothing a damn thing.

OP is a nice understanding gentleman who took the high path. Don't give him crap about it. You are speculating on future that may or may not happen. What if she went to prison got hook up with the wrong crowd and started running a meth lab and end up killing more people with a meth explosion. How would OP feel then. How would you feel recommending a path that ultimately lead to more death. LOL.

OP, You did absolutely the right thing. I'd have taken her keys and toss them into the bushes. Taking the keys away from her was the best thing anyone did for her the entire night.

Wow that's shitty..hope your car turns out good after the repairs.

Somewhat OT, but am I the only one who pictured and laughed at the whole "OP running while on the phone" thing? Sorry, it was somewhat funny to imagine that.

dude, if you tossed the keys away into the bushes, you would be liable for conversion. Law is against you if you do that.
