DIY E93 RGBW DTM BLACK-OP w/ SWITCHBACK EYEBROW (Completed)

Hello Guys! I finally decided to upgrade my headlight by myself and made really good research. It took me about 2-3 months (I was looking when I have free time) to make sure everything going to be really high quality and looking German!

It is still in process due to some specific item and shipping delays! But I am done 90% of the job and it will be really easy to complete this 10% by the time I receive the orders.

There is really too many thing to write here. It was one of the most fun DIY that I am done to this car so far. And it is NOT AN EASY DIY if want to do what I am done. A lot of dremelling and adjustment. And you have to be really precise and have to try too many things to make sure everything is working and looking even. I also did programming on the NFRM for the switchback so it will not make any hyper flash in between turn signal mode without TURN SIGNAL LIGHT BULB since LED switch back 3-5W and halogen signal blb about 35W or it wont flicker while driving the car!

I am doing something similar to OSSDesign with the LCI turn signal bezel. Instead of using 6 led strip on the turn signal I am using 3 for M.

I also blacked out the CLEAR LENS HOLDER so when you make the cuts it shows the metal part little bit at the inner part. SO now it doesn't bother me at all!

Since I am still waiting for the bezel that's the only thing is left! You need to know how to solder for this strips!

One of the most challenge part was ADAPTIVE headlight removal and installing the ZKW-R super duper clear lenses. Making the adjustment in between cutoff metal to lens. If you do right it will look really sharp cut with 6000K bulb. This will reflect cold blueish purplish on the cutoff line!

I also Add 2 more lens at the inner Corner light section so it became QUADLENS and added 4 RGB demon light with the remote control.

So now I have 2 remote control that works within 200 feet and both color adjustable.

One of the important thing that I was willing to have that Multicolor rings but since I did my jeep with the RGB COB rings I realized that WHITE is not WHITE! It is mixed by other colors so it looks like purple. It looks really sharp and good on the jeep but I didn't want the same look on BMW. So I found out one of the most helpful and professional seller BAV GRUPPE on Ebay. And bought his very high quality products on this DIY.

Only one thing was not offered was EYEBROWs with LED STRIPS! So I decided to do myself and succeded with the HALF ROUND ACRYLIC LENS DIFFUSER!

So now everything looks very professional and high quality! LIKE over 3K job

I would like to share incomplete project to show you how far I came. And I will also update with the complete project as soon as I am done!

This is one of the most important part adjusting the lens. ZKW-R lenses are not made for our OEM lens holder so you have to manually adjust the lens with using the RING behind and then use the mini washers to adjust the distances between lens and cutoff.

Then I adjusted the cutoff using this little screw it was already on! This adjustment is very important after the washer process. Otherwise you may see yellow color instead of blue. And I tried over 12 combination like 1 washers, 2 washers, 3 Washers on the bottom 2 washers on the upper legs or 3 washers on the bottom 2 of them top of the cutoff one of them under the cutoff and the most perfect vision was 3 washer on each leg for me!

And that's how dirty my OEM lenses were (2008 e93 m3) and I upgraded with OSRAM 6000K light bulbs!

I couldn't find long distance wall other than here but It shows the purplish effect on the cut off!

This is how it looks like after the job done on TURN SIGNAL

Since I upgraded everything I also ordered new clear lens covers for the headlight. Passenger side looks brandnew since I have the clear bra, but driver side wasn't that good since someone slightly hit me in the parking spot I had to remove it and drive without bra like 3k miles. It was showing little marks! They are on the way as well.

IT WILL CONTINUE!

I am done with one headlight and it needs to be closed that's all. I used the test covers on the picture. Thank God I have the new covers. It can be really messy if you do not have protectors on the covers! I really feel like I bought a new car and extremely excited to see on the car

Here is some pictures

Testing the headlights with old covers :

Beautiful man! great work

I'm about to buy a set that the rings fell off. How exactly do you mount the DTM rings? Double sided tape? and how do you make sure they are level?

Thank you. You should start from the inner rings. either put the headlights back on the car and adjust it (that's what I did) Or put the headlights to a flat surface and hold upright. It will stay up by itself. So you can see that buttom line of the headlight is your reference point. Try to put as good as you can, then you can put the plastic cover that goes underneath them. And see how they look! And as far as the bigger ring goes if you see some of the pictures showing that you need to cut the outer shroud from the bottom little bit. what you do is you wire the outer rings from top to the shroud by opening the 2 little holes on the shroud. and it hangs on the shroud. that way u can play with the rings before you use any epoxy.

Hey. This is a very detail oriented job. And you can maybe get only one headlight done with $1200 without parts! My personal opinion this job is worth at least 3K! It is not an easy DIY. and too many things involved.

Looks good. Where did you get new lens covers from? How far away was the light in your cut off picture? I also added washers to the bottom of the lens holders as well, but I didn't think to adjust the cut off shield. I think I also used 3 washers, but I remember one headlight only using 2, and now I know the possible reason. I didn't adjust the cut off shield.

I got from Ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Original...JXY6lg&vxp=mtr

Ask him they have a little stock in the USA.

I did adjustments some reason this lenses will not look even on far distances. It looks like hill. We need to wait for the exact fit lenses! But I can live with it

I'll take a look. Are they oem lens covers?

Ah, ok makes sense. A rounded cut off would mean the light beam isn't shining through the exact perfect center of the lens. You're right, the ZKW-R lenses don't fit exactly, I spent so much time trying to center the lens in the holder and the metal ring.

so now that you've got them fully installed, do you have any error codes from removing the small LED in the upper corner?

I'm wondering if I need to code that out, or if I can simply unplug and remove it.
