MPE V4 issues

Hi all,

I am having trouble attaching connecting pipes to the muffler section. They are nearly the exact same diameter and will not slip into place. I’m afraid to spread the inlets on the backbox for fear of damage or poor sealing afterward. Anyone seen this before? I searched and found no previous mention of it. Plaque states V4. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Autozone will lend you exhaust pipe expanders to open up the diameter of the ends on your last pic.

I had an issue the first time I installed my Corsa. I took apart some of the pieces after putting them together initially then found they were too close to same diameter when trying to reassemble. Exhaust expanders did the trick.

Thank you, was hoping not to have to do that as I imagine the chance for leaks goes up.

It will leak slightly at that joint regardless. The included clamps will close things up to the extent you expand it a bit too much. You won't need much extra space. I used a screwdriver in the slotted expansion cuts to get them to slide in IIRC (this was like 8 years ago and it's still on there...so YMMV, lol)

Thanks, good to know my issue isn’t a one-off. Brute force for the win.

I did. Ordered 9/1 from getbmwparts.com. Not sure what difference, if any, with v4. This one is the e90 version.
