Thanks for the answers guys Its more the fact that regular studs are only available in 3 colors... i would like to run red lug nuts to match my wheels so this might be an option to consider for me in the near future

I prefer them. No issues, convert with confidence.

Street car? I have a used set of 75mm studs I'd be willing to part with. There's nothing wrong with them, I just have gotten into the habit of replacing them annually when tracking the car.

I'm a relatively new convert to threaded studs and it's certainly worth the extra convenience particularly if you are changing wheels more than a couple times per year.
One thing for sure to do, is use plenty of red locktite. I used Locktite thread cleaner and then evidently was too sparing with the red locktite and in a few thousand miles my studs (some not all) were loose (recheck them a couple of times after the install). Removed all the studs, put a bunch more red locktite on and now they are solid. |

Been using Turner Motorsport studs which are manufactured by ARP and kics r40 neo chrome for past 2.5 years without an issue.
Local tire shop didn't know they were supposed to put the loctite and torque by hand the studs first before putting the wheel. Wouldn't do it either so had to go to another shop to ensure it was done properly.

Most go with 75mm. 90mm will take up to a 18mm spacer.

I would recommend 75mm for track use.

Do you use loctite when you install the studs? Was wondering how you replaced them every year if loctite is supposed to be "permanent"?

Yes, I used loctite (red). It keeps the studs from backing out but it can still be removed.

Just did my stud conversion last weekend. So happy I did, after owning VWs for the last 6 years and now my M3 it makes me wish I did it all my VWs as well. So much easier to remove/install the wheels plus you get much better lug options.
