Pilot Sport 4S vs Pilot Super Sport

I couldn't find a previous thread when I searched, I only found threads that people were selling.

So I wanted to ask, has anyone driven on either of these tires and why do you like them? Is there a comparison I am not aware of? Wanted to research now since I am going to need tires next year.

Came from PSS to PS4S. PSS used to be the "best" - and its still good - while PS4S is improved in all ways incl less wear. Plenty information to find with searching, or stop here and place an order on PS4S.

Cheers

Yup, like said above the PS4 is the superior tire. I put a lot of miles daily driving my car and the 4S has held up much better so far than the PSS. Offers a slight bit more grip too, but not probably noticeable to most people

Before this thread gets flooded with subjective "it's great" posts, look at both Tire Rack tests and you can compare the objective performance data like lap time, slalom time, stopping distance, etc. (click "test data" and scroll down)

TL;DR: the PS4S was slightly better than the PSS across the board...but just barely. It was equal in the lateral G tests.

You can also read their subjective testing which might shed some light on driveability concerns like road noise or wear. It just depends on what's important to YOU in a tire.

I've decided on the PS4S when the time comes in April. I may not install them right away but I'll try and catch them at a deal then. Not sure entirely when my tires I have on my M were installed and I feel the service life on this set of tires is coming due.
