newbie to the forum - and introducing Luci

I want to say hi to everyone and introduce Luci (named after my wife ). She's my first BMW, and I've been loving every gas guzzling moment with her. My stepson and I picked the car up in Munich just before last Christmas, and she arrived here in California the first week of March.

Yeah, it's about time I joined the board, huh? I've, uh, had things to do....

My last car was a 2005 Infiniti G35 coupe with some mild mods (intake plenum, exhaust, engine tune, sways, shocks/springs). I loved that car, but when my wife suggested I upgrade, it took me only slightly more than 5 nanoseconds to say "ok" and think of either the M3 or a Cayman S. The practicality of a back seat prevaled.

Anywho, it's got the DCT, competition package, premium package 2, convenience package, satellite radio, enhanced sound, BMW Performance splitters, BMW Performance rear spoiler, BMW Performance mirror covers, BMW Performance front grill, and a Ventureshield clear bra (including a custom job on the splitters).

Without further ado....

I was wondering, how do you like the dual color on the seats?

Ahem...Luci with an "i"!

I really like the dual color seats. I was glad they came out with the two dual color interiors just before we ordered the car. I wouldn't do a full interior in light colored leather only because it's harder to keep clean, and the full red interior was cool but just not my thing. My last car had a full black interior, so the two-tone option let me have something a little different with a little more color.

It's just a grill that's all black plastic rather than having some chrome as on the OEM one. They're all over these forums in OEM and aftermarket form...

Thanks! You know, I've wondered as which of fellow local M3 drivers would be on here. I'll be sure to wave next time.

I don't have the euro plates on anymore, though. I relented and put on my Cali plates.

This really rang true last evening for me when all four in my family went out to dinner in my coupe because I didn't want to drive the wife's Jetta. I never like driving with four but this M3 does it with aplomb. I never like how a full car saps some power and people complaining about room. My 6'1" son sits in the back with no issues and this engine doesn't seem to notice the extra heft. No car with this level of performance has its practicality. NONE.
Congrats and enjoy.

From one newbie to another....WELCOME! and awesome color choice! I was planning on that color but stuck with white, since I've always wanted a white M3.

BTW, I see your pics in Munich which reminded me how awesome that place was when I visited in Feb '11. Great building structure and display of the vehicles.

Welcome! We're practically neighbors. We should get Luci and Heidi together for a play date.

Oh, that sounds like fun! They're practically twins, too. Not sure how Luci will do, though. She hasn't been out to play yet. Most of her time is spent commuting and running errands. She's a great 414hp grocery getter .
