Are you comfortable with driving in snow? make sure you have some snow tires ready. bring snowboard and take the M3 to french alps. passes will be closed. stick to primary roads and you should be fine.

Would I be better off just taking trains around Europe?

If you are prepared to 1) expose your new car to salt, gravel, freezing temperatures 2) willing to rent or buy proper snow tires, and 3) drive very carefully then I think you could drive around europe without much trouble. I would recommend you drive it to a warmer climate like southern spain.

If you can't do all 3 of the above then probably best to either move back your delivery to April or come out look at the car, and then arrange for alternate method of travel. train is a good alternative.

You could luck out on the snow, but the odds are against you in January. also, it is illegal to drive on summer tires in germany in the winter. I believe BMW has a program to rent snow tires.

I would agree given the OP is from LA and I would wager not familiar with winter driving. Still I would give anyone a benefit of a doubt. I drove LA streets for 7 years and there is plenty more there to worry about damaging the car all year round than some snow and salt.

As for driving an M3 during the winter, several of us do this all the time. It all depends on your comfort level. The M3 is my daily driver and I really enjoy it in the snow running pilot sport alpins. I have the underside prepped for winter duty and then cleaned in the spring. The car looks good as new when cleaned up. I also love taking it snow boarding and parking right next to all the audi wagons here. many surprised looks

I grew up in NYC/CT, so I know a thing or two about driving in the winter. What I'll most likely do is take trains around Europe and explore that way.

Very cool! What part of CT? I lived in New Canaan for 12 years.

I'll probably end up taking the trains around Europe. I'll look at the car briefly, send it on its way, then travel around.

It's exactly what I did but I'm stationed here and my M is my DD. You can always gets something repainted. It's not a big deal, it's not an Aston or some super high-end exotic. In the end it's a German car made with German weather in mind.

If you're planning on taking the high speed trains book now if you can. It's just like airline tickets, the closer to your travel date the more expensive it is.

I was able to order Monte Carlo Blue and the Competition package on an E93. Should be interesting to see it when it arrives.

LMB is a lot darker then monte carlo. Both great colors can't go wrong with either one. Obv you know MCB cost a little more to get and also is rare

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...ghlight=teaser here is Erics teaser page if you haven't seen it. His car is insane! stunning color combo he picked. very lucky guy

ZCP on an E93? That's pretty surprising. Not only would that require specially calibrated struts for the E93 due to the weight, but also special programming too.

Do you mean that you were able to get 359M wheels? Or did you actually get the lowered suspension as well, with the specially tuned EDC Sport mode and MDM DSC mode?

MCB E93 will be amazing though. Can't wait to see it.
