You guys are spoiled. In the NE you drive 12h to MidOhio, 8 to VIR/Calabogie/Mt Tremblant

The drive back is horrible. Hell, the drive there sucks as well! Especially if you leave work at 6pm

I won't be at chuckwalla... Didn't register in time for intermediate. I'm a try-hard intermediate that won't jive with the miatas/etc in beginner. I'll be at big willow with speed district on 04/10, but I'll see you at Laguna seca on 03/26.

Do you get a garage at Laguna seca? Would you like to split one?
I haven't decided if I want one or not, but if it makes things easier, I'll probably spring for one.

I was going to ask, sure let's do it. Let me know where I should send the $50 to via PayPal or whatever.

Do you usually get one? I just don't know what to expect and you do. If I get one you could just give me money that day.

I generally don't but then again it's been raining off and on all week up here. Might be good just to be safe - it was no fun changing my brake pads in driving rain.

Ok sounds good, I'll order one up. How is the day going in chuckwalla?

It's really, really hot. Got an engine temperature warning at 275-280 degrees, so I took it easy. I set my best time of 2:08.64ish this morning after first warming up the tires, lol. I didn't have the track memorized yet either. I haven't been able to catch it since. All my times now are 2:09 etc. Definitely not taking 2nd place in the Bimmer Challenge today!

Went off track a couple times. First off, I didn't catch a slide properly - not really used to doing it so quickly with the gloves, and since the gloves are really sticky, when I went to unwind the wheel, I did it by letting go - only I didn't let go enough. Just dumb on my part. Second time happened in the same messed up lap, lol. This one I carried too much speed into a turn and didn't make it - went straight off.

Fortunately both times were forgiving. Spun out in front of people the first time too.

Yeah, stock cooling. I'm guessing my skill level has finally exceeded the capacity of the car to cool itself, especially at Chuckwalla where there isn't a lot of long straights to get air flowing over the radiators.

Car kept going into limp mode in the afternoon. I did manage to get a 2:07.94 lap late in the day, though.

Weird behavior though - once engine temp was that high, the car automatically upshifted all the way to 7th!! That was not a good time. DCT was bogging down too. Need a transmission cooler and an oil cooler

Well that sucks. Any other e92 M's posting similar times and having cooling issues?

The E9x is a pretty good platform but the cooling system is not optimized for all situations. I'm in the SE and it gets pretty warm here too, not as hot as what you experience though.
I added an aftermarket oil cooler perhaps a year after I got my car and this past year added a CSF radiator. I've never had DCT limp so I have left that cooler alone. I can tell you that the this combination for me has been great. Temps are way down, I never even run to the middle mark anymore (between 210 and the 300F). Motor also drops temps faster on the cool down lap.

These parts are not difficult to install and worth the effort.

Best lap on Saturday. A few mistakes in this one -- poor gear shift decision making, heh. Mostly triggered by wanting to stay in 4th gear so that I didn't overload the DCT cooler.

No overheating in the first session this morning, it's only 70 out. Set my best lap so far - 2:07.43. Helps to have a day of practice under your belt, haha. Was setting good 2:07 times one right after another. Had a nice gap of no traffic and no one to pass me so it was great!

I guess I better start saving for one of those fancy DCT coolers...

Stay safe out there, Alex!

vid looks good. looks like it was a nice day. usually those high clouds in the desert make for a slightly cooler day, but 95 isn't exactly cool.

so how many days do you have on the nt01's so far? was this your first few days on them? how do they compare to what you were using before?

Wow, you drove out from the bay area? That is commitment I was complaining about my drive back to Orange County LOL.

I was also out there on Saturday with a good group of guys, and damn was it hot. My e92 was getting up there in temps as well, but no issues or limp mode interference.

I prefer running Chuck in the CCW config.

Made it back in one piece! 2nd day only saw limp mode once, at the end of the day. There were a couple screw ups from other people that ended the 2nd and 3rd sessions I did early, which sucks.

Was 96 outside when it went into limp, will have to pull the data and see what is happening.

Had 2 days on them going on, but was probably more like 3 - had one speed district buttonwillow day on them hehe.

Tires have no pattern left and some of them have maybe 2mm of the central channels left? Lmao. Trying to figure out if I can eke out a Laguna Seca day on what's left.

Can't really compare them apples to apples to my RE71R - when I did buttonwillow I was slower with the NT01 but I had engine temp issues which could have robbed me of power. I like the NT01s so far though, they're not holding me back as fas as I can tell!

Also switching to DSC off driving so some learning curve while I take things a little slower around corners.

The drive back almost killed me, didn't get in til 2 am and I left at 5. I wonder what the heck was going on at I10?! So much traffic for no reason. Which e92 were you in?

I'm thinking maybe some of my gear hunting may have contributed; I would often drop down to 3rd when I could have stayed in 4th - 3rd just feels faster, lol.

I've done CCW once and I'm not sure what I prefer.
