Continental Extreme Contact Sport (ECS) for 18x9.5 / 18x10.5 TE37SL

Hi all,

I am considering the Continental ECS for my 18" staggered TE37SL, but I am having trouble with the rear tire size. Ideally I would run 265/35/18 and 285/35/18, but Continental only makes a 285/30/18 (too short). The only other option would be a 265 or 275/35/18 & 295/35/18 combo which might rub.

Questions:
Would I have an issue with the 295/35/18 in the rear?
- If yes, should I run a 265/35/18 or 275/35/18 front tire?
Would I be ok running a shorter rear tire (285/30/18)?
Should I stick to the tried and true MPS4S in 265/285?

I believe the offsets are 18x9.5" ET22 and 18x10.5" ET20. My car is on stock EDC dampers with Swift Spec-R springs. Stock-ish spec alignment, street car only.

295 ought to be fine. I ran the 295/35-18 Conti DW on 18x10 ET25's with stock springs for a while, not even close to hitting anything in back. The 10.5 ET20 is about 12mm closer to hitting the fender but I'd still think it'd be ok

That said, having run both, I'd just get the PS4S if you want maximum stick from a truly streetable, friendly daily tire.

The fastest M3 at One Lap of America this year ran 18x10.5's with 285/30-18's all around. It's fine. Your speedo will be off a bit more than stock, and you'll have shorter final drive gearing, but it's not like it's going to cause a huge handling issue

Thanks! Do you think the 275/35/18 would be ok in the front?

And yes I know that the MPS4S are the benchmark, just considering these as they are slightly cheaper. I'm not sure it's worth the savings though.

Yes. That's a less aggressive setup than an 18x10 ET25 with 275/35-18 that literally every single person in the world is running on the front for track days

For reference I am at 10" wide ET10 in the rear with a 285 tire. I'm on H&R Sport Plus springs and I don't rub. Your fitment will sit 5.7mm more inwards, giving even more clearance.

The Conti's are supposed to be slightly narrower with more rounded shoulders too.

You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."
