longevity/wear concerns from a tune?

looking at buying a car that's got an Evolve stage 2 tune + gts dct tune. Are there any wear concerns from tunes in general, this one in particular? i'm assuming it's less of a concern on an NA car but thought i'd ask

Generally safe. You just have to realize any mod is a roll of the dice to some extent, if you are uneasy why not an unmodded sample?

Fwiw I have had BPM Stage 2 in my car for 6+ years, zero issues. You should not be worried if it's from a reputable tuner who knows what they are doing.

Evolve is ok, if it was an alpine burble i'd be worried.

BPM and ESS seem super knowledgeable when it comes to tunes, both been around for a very long while, so highly experienced, and lots of people happy with Alpine.

I'd be more concerned with how hard/aggressively someone treated/drove her, given she was tuned for higher performance. Timely fluid maintenance? Any track time?

I'd say the very safest tune and most bang for buck is Dinan (excellent tune, and hard to beat at $199).

And I personally wouldn't consider buying a car that has had burble or flame tune on it.

from everything i've seen, it's been well kept. frequent oil changes, lower mileage, obsessive (in a good way) current owner, no track time

Prolonged cylinder wash out from rinsing the cylinder walls with gasoline will have a long term effect on the engine

Burble tune just forces the engine to run super rich, so aside from killing MPG, all that unburned fuel flows to places where it otherwise wouldn't be flowing.

I've always wondered if all that fuel can clog or damage the cats at some point, or burn out the O2 sensors, although it's not passing smog regardless, so I guess it's a moot point in that regard.

For sure it will kill your cats.

If you are running all 4 cats and a flame tune you might as well make peace with your engine blowing. - that is not a scare tactic, I am almost certain that will break your block eventually. - it has to do with all that gas not being able to escape quickly enough and cats melting/ breaking up.

Look, if you want a slight burble that is personal choice, not for me, the flames is for amateurs that want to impress on tick tock.

I suppose I understand why vendors offer flame tunes, people ask for them, I think If I was a tuner, that I would not offer the flames and communicate that, my tune is designed for maximum safety, efficiency and power and that mega flames wouldn't match my own ideals with dealing with these machines and longevity.

I'm so tired of stock cars with burble tunes driving around with nonstop pops going off. It is not cool at all. It just makes the car sound like it's broken.

You have a rotary engine or some modified 90s Japanese turbocharged car, sure it can pop every now and then. When it's a newer car that sounds like popcorn every time they lift off the throttle, it's not cool and totally artificial.

And it gets even worse when the burble/flame tune is accompanied with a catless or completely straight pipe exhaust.

And this setup on a 6 cylinder car… Pure cringe.

I remember when lots of afterfire and burble just meant your tuner didn't know what he was doing with fueling tables. Now people pay for it. I was once told burble tunes were the sound of vaginas drying.
