guess i should explain myself, I did a NASA event about 10 years ago at Sears Point in my then Audi A4 and it was not pleasant. Guys in 5k mustang/camaros who did not care about their cars driving like asses, multiple car on car accidents. Just wondering if these events could be similar.

I'm sure that's not what Ricky meant by it, he was just joking. Everyone is free to choose the types of events that they attend, and nobody is forcing you to attend events not held by BMW CCA. I for one hold BMW CCA in high regard, their events just haven't worked with my schedule thus far.

Yes. They can be similar. I had a similar experience with ExtremeSpeed with a 350Z and I'm ever so slightly more apprehensive about attending their future events.

That said, Josh's events are a bit more exclusive, so I think it should be fine. For the most part, I try to stick with SpeedVentures myself. Trust me when I say I know where you're coming from.

I already have Participant Accident Coverage. It's included in the price as a whole. I add up everything for the day then find the price where I can break even. If I make a little, that would be nice but I'm not in it for the money. As I told you, I'm just like you guys. Same car, same drive, only want the best for all of us. We're on the same team

Let me double check with my insurance agent if you guys are under that, I'm pretty sure you are. I have General Public Liability (5 million $) and Participant Accident Coverage (20,000$ per person)

I think he means that you are just in as much risk driving on the street as you are on the track (if not more)

I've seen PLENTY of hit and runs. someone rear ends the other, waits, until the person he hit turns the car off, steps out. then guns it away. no way to catch him.
I've seen it more times than I can count....

thing is though, if you drive in a good group where you don't have (much) traffic, and don't drive past your limits (if you go off etc, that's your fault), you shouldn't have an issue.

When I ran on Sunday, I barely ran into any traffic, and when I did come up behind another car, he allowed me to have a nice clean pass.

Blowing an engine, flipping a car... that's pretty much driver error or mechanical failure.
You shouldn't track if you don't think your car is up to par

Insurance is nice, but I plan on having fun and staying within limits. if if god forbid something happens, hopefully I can drive off the track, get towed home, then call insurance and just not mention that i was on a track

There's no way you would know everyone on the freeways, do you? If not, how can you drive on streets?

That'll probably materialize on the track chat thread and then somehow become it's own thread later on.

I'll have more details for July 17th today or tomorrow. We just had a event, it's going to be a duplicate, just on the weekend. It was a AMAZING event. I'm sure a hand full of guys on this thread went, ask them how they felt.

Check out the last thread: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=529362

I'm sure he's just worried about elevated risk due to douchebag trackers. It's a legitimate worry as I've experienced firsthand, but probably not anything to worry about with this particular group that's going to this particular event.

This isn't an open NASA style event where we'll be getting beater 1k 240sx's showing up with 17 year old kids that think it's cool to drift in the middle of a live session with a welded LSD after watching Fast and the Furious and Initial D reruns. As far as I know, it's open, just attracts a different crowd than the one you were describing earlier, much like the SpeedVentures events which I formerly mentioned.

I also have Mike Bonanni and Jordan Yost as driving instructors for all my events.. They are actual pro drivers, not some random guy instructing you like normal events.

Sounds great Josh, what's the price per participant? Let's get this rolling, I'm itching to sign up now.

One last question and one last request if that's okay, in addition to James' questions.

The three run groups are beginner/intermediate/advanced right? There isn't going to be day-long follow the leader stuff for beginner group is there? I'll probably run beginner with slower cars if so, but if the pro driving instructors are running a few tutorial sessions like SpeedVentures/ExtremeSpeed (which is 100% ok, just curious) I'll probably run intermediate.

Could I throw in a request for the track configuration be 13CW (Buttonwillow Configuration 13 Clockwise)?
