Not too loud but sounds exhaust? Need opinions
Got a baby. Needs to sit in back. Can't destroy his eardrums. Can't destroy his brain.
What exhausts are out there? What do you guys have? Mine is pretty decently loud so need to tone it down a bit. Any new exhausts people have tried or is it still the same old akra, dinan, etc?

I started with OEM Modded Exhaust, then added M3World AU Primary Catless with 200CEL & Resonators.
That was too loud for the baby. I've bought a set of used Akrapovic Evo, and my 2 y/o can fall asleep in the car.

MPE, Dinan, Akra rear section are all pretty quiet
I don't find there's anything you can do to this car to make it even remotely loud if you keep the stock xpipe. |

I've owned Corsa, Akra (full system), Dinan, AA Gen 1, OEM mod and Remus Race.
The following will suit your needs: Corsa, Dinan, OEM mod and maybe akra full system. I say maybe to the akra because it's kinda bassy at 2k rpms. |

I'm stock x-pipe with Eisenmann Sport, it would be 100% perfect for your situation. No smell, no low end increase in sound, zero drone, but still plenty of tone when past 5k rpm.

Hmmm.
Everyone is different. I've been there. I have a nice exhaust sitting in the closet because I put on an MPE. After a few days I had withdrawal from my AA. Withdrawal lasted a few day; it came and went and I ranted to Denk how awesome the AA was in comparison. However, the MPE sounded good so that wasn't the issue. A couple of weeks later I finally get it and don't plan to switch back. So, if I had kids your age, the MPE would be fine. I never thought I'd enjoy the car more but I do. I could go into specifics but other have already. |

Everyone has a different tolerance for sound.
DINAN rear section is pretty tame...even with a DINAN Xpipe added, I think its still tame. The nice thing about that full setup is that its quiet and perfect for daily driving, but when you really get on it, it makes quite a bit of noise. And best of all, little to no drone If you wanna go a cheaper route with no Xpipe, you could go with a Megan Racing rear section. In my opinion, that rear section is just as quiet as a DINAN rear section.

If have a beater. I had to drive it for a few weeks and when I got back into my M3, it was loud and definitely near the "hey, look at me" level. It didn't take long before i readjusted to it. If I had the MPE and prolly dinan axle back only, I might even find it loud enough.
The akra with a full setup as described above must be bliss. I'd give some seat time to normally quiet car first. |

I've had Megan before and oem mod and now these r1 mufflers. I've had Challenge xpipe and oem and now no test pipe no resonator setup.
I like the MPE and dinan notes. I really don't want to get quieter as it sounds so good. I don't want to ruin my kid's eardrums though lolol

I think the Megan's all sound the same. Prices vary based on tips and whether or not they come with connecting pipes. I would buy one with connecting pipes, that way you dont have to hack up your stock exhaust.

I'm in the same boat. Im having my wife and I are expecting our first child in December. I just got the E90 M3 a couple weeks ago and the Recaro car seat just came in today
The car is way too quiet with the stock exhaust. Im also leaning toward getting a Dinan exhaust. |

The Dinan Exhaust really is barely noticeable compared to stock, even at WOT. I had to add on an X-pipe to really find out how the Dinan sounds, and it sounds VERY good with the Evolve X-pipe im running now. Definitely not loud when cruising around, but does have drone rite at 2000RPM, but no drone at all above or below that 2000RPM mark.
