There don't seem to be any cases of stock rod bolt failure so even if ARPs are better, there does not appear to be a need for them. The only advantage of the ARPs to me is ease of installation.

Regular Guy, I'm with you, i'm a big believer in using ARP, but I cant justify pulling the Engine out to get what I see as Zero benefit, I haven't seen anything about someone having a stock rod bolt snap and losing a motor that was naturally aspirated yet.

You can also reuse the ARP's, saves money further down the line if you ever need to pop em out again.

Its late so Im only going to post this for tonight, but I just finished the bearing Service in my M3 with 87k miles on it, here are the piston side bearings from number 1 (Left) and number 8 (Right) all 8 had similar wear on the uppers. Mind you this is a street car that has never been on the track, and has a perfect mantience history....NOT GOOD!!! super happy I did the bearings now!!!

That seems to be a lot of wear. What oil change frequency did you do? Did you just pull them b/c of what you've seen here or did you have oil analysis data that indicated a need to do this?

Glad you got it done in time!

I pulled them because of what I saw here and other post on M3post. It seamed like a simple job for me (and it was) and not much money in the long run compared to a new engine. I wonder if all the s65 engines out there are in the same shape or worse, but people are getting lucky (till they ARENT.)

I bought the car from my best friend, he is crazy about maintenance, he was do them at 5k. the drain pan was spotless, I wish I took a pic of it. here is a pic of the rotating mass right after I pulled the pan.
