Ryan at Steve Thomas told me of one they have at his dealership, it's still there according to their website. It's an individual color,$75k MSRP.

I just placed my order, looks like a April 20th pickup date... in Munich euro delivery. So excited, but sad that this is the end of v8 m3s.

According to this interview it seem like there will be a MY2013 e92/93:
http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=637125

Quote:
There won't be a next generation M3 introduced before the current M3 coupe and convertible end of production. [Note: read together with the answer directly above, that would mean that there will be no F80/F82 M3 (sedan/coupe) prior to mid-late 2013 at the earliest.]
The earliest BMW can stop e92/93 production is this coming June. So unless they decide to bring out the next generation M3 ASAP, there will be a MY2013 e92/93. Am I missing something?

Yes, there will be a model year 2013 E92/E93 M3. There won't be a new M3 generation in any form until the E92/E93 M3 stops production.

i just spoke to Matt Russell today at the NJ BMWCCA VDC event. he indicated there would be a 2013MY. he also said the rumors and spy shots of the next gen m3 are a few years out - as in M needs to start a few years in advance for the next gen M3.

so...i am not sure what a MY13 E92 M3 would mean in terms of .... when would be the last time to place an order? june 2013?

I've been following this closely, as I was going to wait for the MY 2013. So I was carefully following tidbits dropped by SCOTT26 and Matt Russell.

No one knows at this point when is the latest you can order an MY 2013. But Matt Russell has said "We have the car until 2013 [calendar year] as a coupe and convertible." (from the Bimmerpost interview: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=638005)

My dealer has told me (in response to my sending them the Bimmerpost Matt Russell interview) that they confirmed on their end that I could order an MY 2013 in the fall of 2012 (for end-of-year delivery). I didn't ask for after that, as I wasn't planning on going further out than an end-of-2012 delivery.

I decided not to wait after all. But hopefully this helps.

If I am not mistaken most MYs run until June so yeah, June 2013.

When should I place my order

The E92 M3 production ends 6/12, should I place my order just before that day? or may 3 weeks before that to let them build the car?

Is a July 2012 E92 production a 2013 model year?

Which month makes the model year the next year's model? Are all BMW cars produced from July (or which month?) of a year regarded as the following year's model?

Why is the model year different for cars produced in the same year eg March 2012 vs July 2012 as there may not be any change in the cars produced in the same year?

Model year varies by country. Here in the US, BMWNA tends to align the model year with significant changes in production at times. BMW's "traditional model year" for North American cars has production starting in August of the prior year and ending in July of the model year.

One example of the non-standard model year is the 2011 E9x M3 model year started with March 2010 production and lasted into July 2011 (I think) for the E92 and Oct 2011 for the E90. Another example of the model year weirdness is the 2008 E60 M5 which started with March 2007 production and lasted through July 2008. Hence the reason why there are so few 2010 M3s and 2007 M5s (Aug - Feb production).

This was the exact reason I ordered my car in March of 2013. Dealer was warning the e92 M3 could end production at anytime. Good sales tactic. It worked. Since there were virtually no manual transmission cars in dealer inventory I had to spec out my car- six speed stripper. I nursed the old e39 for six more weeks.
