OEM Exhaust Mod? [M3 E92]
Anyone done that to their car? Seen plenty on Youtube and on forums.
Wondering what the cost would be and maybe have a listen if you're close? Well it's finally done, just a quick video I did today. Weather has been so rubbish. Last edited by sylonien; 01-26-2013 at 05:01 PM.. Reason: Video update |

im in New York.........but i can say its the best mod (aside from my wrap) i've done. It's cheap and the sound quality is exceptionally good for the cost! Totally worth it if you're not trying to spend 3-4 grand on a AM exhaust, as I am not.

Finally got my hands on my car and as expected, the exhaust is way too quiet for my liking. Still looking to have a go at the OEM mod before getting an expensive exhaust.
Anyone else done it or know where to go and at what cost? |

Guys, no one wants to do it here. I've been ringing and asking for days and all the response I get is no, as an example.
"We regret we would not get involved in the modification of your back box situation on your M3." No one, no one dares doing it here. It's ridiculous! From normal garage to exhaust specialists. |

Shipping will be more than inside Germany but I reckon not much. I had it done by him, great work, good price (~350€ if I remember correctly) and I am absolutely happy. And you can even chose how much louder you want to have the exhaust to be. |

Hmm Düsseldorf.... oh wait I mean Hamburg.
I have a sister in Düsseldorf, drove my 335i to it last summer! Thanks for the offer but surely there must be someone here in the UK nearby who can do it. |

- Transfer money to his bank account - he sends modified muffler to me and I install it - I send back the original muffler - done. So theoretically this should also work into UK. Cheers Christoph P.S. Düsseldorf is covered in snow currently so I am having fun with my M . |

I've done it a week ago.
It is NOT hard to do it yourself guys! It costed me $50 in total. ( pipe and welder) You can remove the exhaust yourself easily with a helping hand, cut open de exhaust carefully. Remove the perforated pipes with the right tools, make the new pipes in the correct size. And than find a welder who can weld everything for you! (takes the welder 1 - 2 hours) I made a bunch of pictures of the process, if i have time i'm going to post a DIY! I'm also working on a before/after video with revs and flyby's, but here is one video where the m3 is taking off with the modded exhaust (replaced the 4 perforated pipes) |

I'm finally home after a crazy day out down to Plymouth. Mad motorway weather, saw couple of crashes on the way.
Yet I still drive my M3 in this weather! Anyway, just a quick review, not time to upload images/videos etc. I'm shattered. So the mod, as planned. - replace perforated pipes with solid pipes - leave small pipe wrapped - dead dog stays in - chopped centre resonator / secondary cat out, replaced with solid straight pipe all done at once. Result, mega loud above 3000rpm and not too raspy. Below its fairly bog standard, tiny bit louder, no drone in 6th gear crusing 60-70mph. Sounds very normal. but if you put your foot down or rev it with heal 'n toe. Its super loud. LOVE IT! Before all I can hear is the engine / induction in Sport+ mode, but now I can hear the exhaust from the back and the engine noise together - very special sound! And almost dominates the front sound that you can hear before. Also it pop's when I lifted off in third gear 4-5000rpm. Like a really loud pop. Mental! Sounds a little bit like american muscle car engine though. |
