Quote for paint correction and clear bra

Hey guys,

My car is in fantastic shape. There's only 8000 miles and its a 2011.75 e90 m3. I was quoted by detailing dynamics for 900 for a paint correction and 600 for mistico glass coating.

Clear bra was 1650 and they don't wrap the edges or take the side gills out to wrap under it (they cut around it).

Is this absurd?

How much does a full paint correction usually cost? 900 is repainting my hood and my bumper basically...

it depends on the condition of your paint and the level you want to achieve. 900 doesn't sound absurd, but i would assume that's a full paint correction not a one/two step or anything like that.

also i've never heard of mistico coating. do some research to make sure you know what you are getting. top coatings right now come from carpro, optimum, and modesta.

Then a one step Polish like fg400 with a proper pad should be enough. That shouldn't cost $900.

I think im going to take a visit to detailers domain on Monday. $900 is completely ridiculous for the condition of my paint.

That price is fair. There work is very good. Did you look at your paint under florescents or a light made for checking paint condition. I guarantee you have a lot more swirls and rids especially after the wax is stripped then you think.

I'm sure their work is great but I've inspected my car in my garage and I do not see that many swirls. even he claimed the paint was in great shape. he just asked how "perfect" I want the detail to be. Obviously I would say as best as possible. lol

All I can say is it is a lot of time to do a proper paint correction and seal. I track my car so every spring on my car I do iron decontamination wash, clay or nano scrub, spot compound bad swirls or scratches and then final polish followed by sealant. I would say it takes me around 6 hours total with taping and washes and ipa wipe down. The only shop on LI that I would let do if I can't get to it is detailing dynamics. All the work they have done for me is outstanding. You will spend about 300 in supplies to do it right.

Definitely go to detailers domain if you are closer to them.

they're not closer but they gave me preliminary quotes and its substantially lower than detailing dynamics. I felt like I was getting ripped off by Matt. Just my own opinion.

I think it's obvious it is not the route you should go because it sounds like your paint is in very good condition. I'm betting he wanted to spend more time really perfecting the paint like jeweling which naturally would run up the bill. With the polishers, pads, and polishes that are out today the time has been substantially cut down.

Thanks! I really appreciate your inputs. It's helped me a lot. I really think detailers domain will be the one for me. I've been reading all over the place and it sounds like Phil is an outstanding detailer.

I'll update soon!

No problem glad I can help. And yea Phil has been around for awhile. I've read countless detail threads he has done. They have quality and consistent work. You can't go wrong.

Full paint correction in our shop is 600 for a 2 door W/detail included. We change 1850 to wrap the entire front end with Xpel Ultimate (complete hood, bumper, fenders, headlights rocker panels). All the edged get wrapped and it takes about 2 days for both services.

Not to thread jack, but does anyone know of a reputable place for these services in the bay area? The swirls in my jet black paint are driving me crazy.

Thanks guys
