Nissan GTR's new ring time improved.
Nissan GTR's new ring time improved.
Quite incredible to think that the GTR has improved it's already amazing time of 7:38 to a now mind-blowing 7:29, a 9 second improvement. http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080501....ring-in-7m-29s |

OMG I bought the wrong car.
Maybe next time if Nissan will allow the car to be sold at MSRP and have enough production so I am able to order on in a timely manner. I ordered my M3 35 days ago and will be driving it (hope) in 35 days from now that's 10 weeks. |

If and it is a big if, Nissan had actually had the cars at msrp, they were actually available in the near future and they were reliable, I might of got one. But non of the 3 is true. The last q45 my wife had were a regular at the dealer. 3 sets of brakes and rotors in 30th miles. Many small gremlins that caused the car to not start, period. Wifes 745 has been marvelous.

^ Yup, the last time was a real outlier as we say in statistics. This one even more so, by a huge margin. The previous time was an outlier by 25 seconds based on a well correlated power to weight ratio. Now it is a 34 second outlier. I firmly stand behind my previous contentions that some combination of the following exist
1. This particular car is under-rated. 2. This particular car is over-rated in weight. 3. The tires used for this test are MPSC equivalent or better. 4. The driver is a serious ace (that one is obvious). Look at the facts the Zonda F is about 600 hp and weighs 2700 lb and laps the N'ring in just about the exact same time. That represents nearly a 45% power to weight advantage for the Zonda. This is beyond fishy, despite what Nissan's marketing team want us to believe you can not defy physics. |

On this I agree with swamp, it's an unbelievable time from something that is meant to have only 480hp and weigh in at 1750Kgs. The chassis and electronics can only take things so far.

I'm stunned by this latest development, but since I have no evidence I won't resort to calling Nissan a liar, as some others have. Instead I'll put forward the theory that the down force that this car generates at speed helps keeps the car very stable and confidence inspiring while allowing it to hold much higher speeds through corners than the competition.

You bought the wrong car because the M3 can only go around the N'Ring in 8:00?

IMO what BMW is doing with the M3 (that is making enough) is the correct thing to do and I reward them for it. if Nissan would have made enough they could have sold me. It's making an artificial high demand (by ultra low supply) and I am not playing ball. By having +$20K non-negotiable Nissan got me to stay away and give my hard earned money to BMW gladly. I don't care if the GTR goes around the ring in a minute flat, I can't buy one with the artificially low supply and I don't want to pay +$20K so I'm out. |

May issue Road&Track tested the US spec'd GT-R vs Z06 and 911TT. Needless to say, the GT-R destroyed them around the track by 4 seconds/lap. It has already been well documented that the GT-R is putting down around 480hp at the wheels, which translates to 510-550hp at the crank. I don't think the GT-R defies the laws of physics, it just applies it better than anything else out there.

+1...If the car sells for MSRP, I would get it without question. Tack on 25-30 thousand dollars, then you start entering a realm were it's not just performance numbers that sells the car.

It eventually came out that the first 'Ring time of 7:38 was on cut slicks...and the problem with the GTR is it's top end speed, which both the Z06 and 997 TT have proven to be faster... No matter how great the DCT and Attesa system are for it's launching and cornering prowess, you still have to look at the acceleration of the GTR 100mph < and it's 3800lbs... I believe when SportAuto does it's full test on the GTR, we will be seeing realistic times ~7:50... .02 |

The 7:29 time was achieved with their standard tires, according to Autoweek, and the article also stated there were a few wet/slick turns as well at this specific time trial.
