This is likely answered already but I'll ask again:

What is the best approach to refinish ZCP hypersilver wheels? I believe it's a multi-coat painted process vs. a much more common powder coating approach.

Most shops around me default to powder coating.

Going to need curb rash repair during the process as well.

Looking for any experiences someone has had.

this color cannot be matched perfectly. also it cannot be replicated in powder coat due to the multicoat process. The last time i had curb damage on mine, i ended up sending out the whole set to be redone so that they would match.

Thanks. Not looking to match a couple - going to send all 4 out to be stripped and being redone. Just need to figure out how to ask a shop to replicate the color as closely as possible. Don't want to deal with degradation like you see with a lot of refinishes - even the good ones.

I just had a set refinished using a multi-stage paint process. The local shop I used has done many sets in the OEM hyper silver and the end result is virtually indistinguishable from the OEM finish.

I started the process by looking at powder coating due to its durability, but what I found from the folks over on M3Forum is that the hyper silver's luster is basically impossible to replicate with powder. You can get somewhat close by blasting it with fine grit glass media (>=300 grit when most shops will only go up to around 80 grit) during the prep process, but the final finish will still end up looking more dull and gray than multi-stage paint.

If the OEM hyper silver finish is what you're after, then your best bet is to find a shop near you that has successfully replicated the paint process before. Ask them if they've done hyper silver M3 wheels. It may make sense to ship them out if you take the cost of a brand new set into account.

Better off buying a fresh set from tischerbmw. Price is pretty reasonable. Sell the old ones.

That's what I was going to say. Price gap may not be too far off going this route vs refinishing four wheels.

ZCP wheels are in high demand.

Last shots before throwing some spacers on this week. I went with a less aggressive 12/10. Trying to have them in before the car goes in to Festival of Speed St Pete next weekend. Will follow up w/ pictures once installed.

15/12 is perfect! Installed this spec on my e90 couple months back and I absolutely love the stance.. gives it a very "bulldog-like" stance!

Enjoy, and pretty ride !

Would anyone know if 12mm squared would suffice? I already have 75mm stud conversions (front/rear) so going 15mm spacer would require me to upgrade to 90mm front studs.
