any recommendations for skiing in PNW?
Hey, so I'm planning a trip in early February to ski for my birthday.
BC it's it'll just be a weekend, I don't want to drive more than 1.5 hours from either the Seattle-Tacoma airport, or the Portland airport. So Eastern Washington and Canada is out. Any recommendations for a resort that has good snow in Feb? Basic google map searches returns these highly rated resorts: Mt. Hood Meadows Mt. Hood Skibowl Stevens Pass Mountain Resort |

Mt. Hood: Meadows, Timerbline, Skibowl
I personally find Mt. Hood in general to be pretty boring. Meadows and Timberline are now quite expensive for what is offered. Bachelor is out of your drive range, but the preferred in Oregon, although that too, is costly (just better justified.) |

Skibowl is good on price, but Mt. Hood weather can be crappy and skibowl is at lower elevation (~3.3k ft iirc) so depending on the weather conditions can sort of suck at skibowl.
Everyone likes to hate on it, but Meadows definitely wins in terms of terrain and size, but the crowds can suck. If it were me coming for a weekend I probably wouldn't pick Mt. Hood - the weather is just too variable and likely to suck. Plus we're trending to an El Nino winter so warmer and less precipitation. |
