The link doesn´t work and would not work ever again...BMW has odered "autostrassenverkehr" to delete the artikle from its site.

BMW is very angry about this guy, who made the press information public one week before it was allowed by BMW...so no more info´s before next weekend as quoted by me earlier.

to be honest, i would have liked them to have done a E91 M3 over the E93.. Either way, it will be the first time ever that BMW offers an M in three diffrent body styles

Not sure, think M-DKG will be the international name. On the other hand UK dealer information called it M-DCT, have to wait for more information...

Autoblog has it. Check the source!! This goes along with my other post about how this site breaks the biggest news and gets recognized for it.

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/14/l...io-with-m-dkg/

Quote:
One enthusiast from the Netherlands described the E93 thusly: "Super vette bak!" We're pretty sure that translates to "super fat barge," though the overly-literal "super oily bake" has its own charm. If you're into cabrios, maybe mutating the phrase to "super phat barge" is more palatable. Our friend from NL was referring to the 200-plus extra pounds the M3 cabrio will be hauling around versus its sedan counterparts. The folding-roof M3 doesn't officially debut until the Geneva Auto Salon in March, but a German magazine jumped the gun and posted images on their website. Embargo apparently broken, the pictures continue to propagate about the internet.

The biggest news with the pending debut of the convertible M3 is the gearbox. The new seven-speed dual-clutch replacement for the SMG transmission, dubbed M-DKG, is reported to debut with the M3 cab and will be available across all bodystyles of the M3 simultaneously. Wheel-mounted paddles will let you blip your heart out, and the new cog swapper will likely outrun cabrios fitted with traditional manuals, reportedly making the sprint in about 5.3 seconds.

Actually, in 1998 BMW offered the E36 M3 in a Coupe, Sedan, & Convertible.

From an german forum directly related by BMW M GmbH (members must have an M!)... they told me that this guy couldn´t read exactly... so I think BMW offered the press a special press release map with pics...included the order not to made public before the 20th, but the guy from autostrassenverkehr don´t read this part of the agreement...and so it happened
Autostrassenverkehr has deleted his only BMW has intervented but its was too late to stop the infos and pics in the www

I don´t think BMW changed its mind...but the pics and infos were in the net... and the other car magazins could argue they had the infos from the net......otherwise they come from the same press release map like those from autostrassenverkehr...

I don't think it's a bad thing to get pics ASAP, so our luck is that a guy did mix up some things... (BMW might disagree)

Anyway here are some new pics showing the paddles which makes think that BMW now allowed to publish the E93 PR:

[source: autobild.de]

The shift lights are indeed in the bezel of the rev counter.

Whooo hooo!! I was right for once in my life.

However. Now I'm asking will they be obscured by the steering wheel?

The paddles look nice, and will light up just like the M5/M6.

Boss S!! You are on it!!

I guess BMW had part of the DCT implementation all the way back at Geneva.
I think that is a pretty cool spot too.

This is one of the better pics of the sycamore anthracite wood trim. Very classy. Looks better than the other trim options IMO. Can't say as much for that ugly a** camel leather. SAW trim with Fox Red leather is gonna be nice.

Yes, 420 hp because Euro rules and SAE rules are different. So for example, my 330i is rated 255 hp in America while the same engine is rated 260 in Europe.

I'd recommend the aluminium shadow or the Carbon look leather over the SAW or any other wood trim.
