Goodbye, M3Post!
Bimmerpost has been my home for all-things BMW for as long as I can remember. You guys were here for me ~12 years ago when I was just a kid trying to fix my sister's E90 325i (turned out to be just a dead battery ), to when I purchased an F82 M4 10 years later and got rear-ended 3 days after that purchase. I asked for help from all of you and someone on this forum helped me out with the diminished value claim on that car. I paid my respects back to all of you by holding a "free coding day" with major help from BIM Coding. Shortly after the M4 returned from the repair shop, I traded it in for an E92 M3 and found myself visiting this forum daily to learn all about it and how to maintain it. Curiosity got the best of me and I stupidly left the E92 M3 for a 2012 GT500 that I drove for about six months before realizing how much I missed the M3. Thanks to a forum member here, I was able to get back behind the wheel of an E92 M3 ZCP. All was well again until four months later my dad was diagnosed with cancer. I was devastated and for whatever reason believed that I needed to get advice from the people on Bimmerpost on what to do. Then, another four months later, he passed away. Upon learning of his death, the credit union cancelled the remaining amount of the loan on the M3 and sent me away with the title. I told myself I would never get rid of this car because I considered it my dad's last gift to me...but alas, I am a car guy at heart with a history of poor financial decisions and can't sit with one car for more than two years. My dad would be shaking his read right now, but in a loving way
So I now say goodbye to all of you and my E92 M3. I loved this platform so much I had to get another after getting rid of my first. It was such a fun and capable car for how practical it was. I can definitely see myself getting a third in my lifetime when practicality becomes a priority but the inner kid in me yearns for the high-revving V8. Funnily enough, the only reason I am leaving this car is because of my best friend who I met at an E90Post car meet over a decade ago. Working for a Toyota dealership today, he was able to hook me up with a 2020 Supra. This message board has had so much positive influence on my life from 13-year old me to late twenties me that I cannot even begin to know who to thank, so I say it to all of you that made this board what it is. Thank you, and goodbye! |
