Post E92 M Mirrors

What grinds my gears:

Was driving through LA for dinner, and saw a E90 335 with aftermarket mirrors (Wilshire and Rodeo area); but they weren't the E90 M3 mirrors, they were like G80 mirrors that were more square and the top spoke DOESN'T FREAKING CONNECT!

Drives me crazy that BMW made the spokes, but didn't bother changing the base plate to connect them on the top.

It's like the real Ms have aftermarket mirrors.

It's not just the G8X, the current gen M5 and M8 (and M2 and X5M) have the same thing, so it was clearly a deliberate design decision at some point.

F8X was ok, still could have changed the plate.

In conclusion, I think the E9X mirrors were a brilliant evolution of the E36, and the pinnacle of M mirror design.

... and if ever get a G82 I'm going to fabricate my own mirror base plate to connect the spokes if IND or Vörsteiner doesn't beat me to it.

... and change the bumper to Adro, even if it looks like a Hyundai.

The current orgy of angry eyes and angry vents that all auto manufacturers have adopted for their front end design language makes me appreciate the understated aggression of the e46/e92 eras all the more. The f8x while still quite pleasing to the eye took a huge leap towards the current paradigm

And yes, the mirrors not connecting looks pretty stupid to me too...

My e90 M3 mirrors connect but they don't align well... which is also somewhat bothersome.
