Sticky throttle pedal
Anyone else have this? Around 10-30% throttle travel, it gets a little sticky. So when, cruising, it creaks and makes noise/minor vibration (just enough to make my OCD self lose it). Sounds like the hinge is too tight or something but I wouldn't know. Any ideas? Real OEM isn't helpful here as there's no breakout diagram for the throttle assembly.

No, I can't say that I have the same issue. Mine is also an M3post labelled 2011.75, with just over 5000 miles and the throttle pedal movement is pretty linear (6MT...no kickdown swtich). I'd say take it in have the dealer look at it.

It's not a manner of linearity or anything.. it's just a really subtle area where it isn't perfectly smooth. If you happen to be cruising at that amount of throttle, you hear squeaks. It's brutal! I will maybe have them address it at my break in service.. was hoping someone had a quick fix.

When you press the pedal The the rod is inserted deeper into the hole Try to clean that rod Because of there is any dirt on it,the movement won't be smooth Maybe a spray some wd40 on a towel, and just lubricate the whole rod? (apologies for obvious sexual references)

I meant the bottom of the pedal as in the underside I was going to suggest ky jelly, but I thought that might be taking it too far

I thought I was the only one! I had the same issue if I were to accelerate past half throttle. However, this seemed to have disappeared (or is less pronouced) now that I'm up to 1600+ miles.

Anyway that's helpful. I was looking for some confirmation that some lube was good to go on that rod and won't harm the throttle module. Man that really IS sexual. Also that depends how you interpret throttle module.

I had this problem too. I removed the gas pedal assembly, then slid the pedal itself out from the base. I sprayed some lube on the springs through the back of the base but ultimately I determined the problem was that the pedal was rubbing against the base. The squeak was the plastic rubbing against the plastic. I put a dab of grease on the inside of the pedal and then when I put the pedal back on the base I slid it over to the side a tiny bit to give it some clearance.
I hope this helps anyone else that might have this problem. |
