cooling ducts / backing plates

picked up a GT4 lip that I'd like to get installed this winter, but wasn't sure if there was a consensus vendor for backing plates and the ducting itself. what have people been using? i found these guys, but i assume there's something stateside too:

i just installed Burkhart Engineering carbon brake cooling plates and 63 mm hoses to a gt4 lip. Went together very well. The hole in the carbon cooling plate is centered half way between the rotor center hat and inner rotor face, but seems like air would want to move back toward the center hat when the car is at speed.

Does it work? I have no idea yet, but we will find out Dec 1 at Road Atlanta.

I’ve been running the Hard
Motorsports brackets which direct air to the inside of the rotor ring, which it needs to be for maximum effect. Perfect fitment and no issues.

+1 for these, I ran them all year and had no issues. Require a bit of adjustment to get installed but work great .

what adjustments did you make to get these to work? i bought the ali set, and it's nowhere near the mount points. the standoff for the lower one pushes it at least a centimeter away from where it needs to be to the point where it hits the rotor. granted i'm running a 36mm rotor, but still..

short of re-bending that standoff to be shorter I'm not sure these are usable..

Nice setup! Suspension Nitron R1? Standard Nitron verson or the OG shark revalved version?

CF can withstand high temps. The limiting factor is really the resin used and how the parts were cured. You can raise the glass transition temp with a post-cure elevated temp cure.

Nice. 685/1028 lbf/in rates should work well. 700/1000 lbf/in is a common setup on MCS dampers. MCS 2WR dampers are still decent on the street at those rates but you can reduce C damping which really makes things civilized.

I ordered the AliExpress ones. They showed up quickly, were cheap and the quality is surprisingly very good, especially for the money.

The inlet is quite small (haven't measured it yet), so I'll need to source some smaller tubing, but I think they'll work well...

can you do a test fit? mine didn't line up at all, and wouldn't clear the rotor with the standoff the way it is.

That's disappointing to hear.
I can't test fit them on the car - it's currently away in storage. I do have a set of Storm uprights though that I can see if the holes up line at all. But in terms of rotor clearance, I won't know until the spring when everything gets installed.

got it. yeah, the holes lined up (i think), it was the height of the standoff that's the issue. the bottom one pushed the plate into the rotor. had it been the other way i could shim it, but this way you basically have to bend in a new height to the standoff, and drill a new hole. Possibly doable, but I think it would overlap with the existing one so you'd have too big an opening. I said screw it and ordered the burkhart set.

What brakes are you running? In the video they use one of the AP kits, maybe it was designed around that, and other kits/OEM cause issues? Not sure.

paragon, 370x36 in the front. it's the same dimensions as an AP9660..

also the video isn't for the ali kit, it's for whoever they knocked off (unless I misunderstood it)

Ah yes, good point. Might be different than the Speed kit.

Good thread. Has anyone run the Porsche GT3 air deflectors on the suspension arms?
.

Follow-up... The Aliexpress specials DO NOT fit. I tested them on my storm uprights I have sitting waiting to be installed, and they are not even close to lining up properly.
