Super C RV for towing

Let's talk about the next level of towing vehicles that can double as a hotel. Anyone ever look into this? This is what I'm looking at the moment:

Before you commit the money to something like this, as a test, you can rent them quite easily via services like RVShare.

I’ve rented RVs at the track and had them delivered to the track for me so I could just arrive at the track and sleep there. In your case, since your tow vehicle is down, you might want to do a full test—-rent one and tow your trailer to an event.

The reason I suggest renting one is that I don’t particularly care for the showers in a lot of these things. To get a nice shower requires upgrading. I would say it’s worth going through a couple rentals to be able to experience it before committing.

What I’ve seen people do over the years that look interesting to me:
1. You buy a moving hotel and tow everything yourself around the country. I don’t mind driving and seeing the country.
2. You pay someone else to drive your rig around the country and just fly in. (Perhaps that person could also do support for you.) If you had the trailer enough for two cars as we’ve talked about before, and one of them was a street trim car like the Porsches, you could use the Porsche on track, but also as the around-town car in whatever city you visit.

I was doing a lot of research on super C's in the last year. I took a hard look at them at Sport Truck RV when I bought my ATC trailer. Personally unless you go full custom like a Show Hauler the Renegades are hard to beat for quality and price. Their quality is a step above most of the cheaper RVs.

If you're wanting to tow a stacker you'll have go with a full size Super C not ones built on a HD truck chassis. I was looking at a Renegade Valencia 38BB because I wanted the bunk beds for our kids and that was a good size to tow our 24ft ATC enclosed. I would look at the Renegade Ikon or Renegade Explorer if you want to tow a stacker.

One thing to be aware of in CA is your overall length which I believe is 65 feet.

I towed with a 40' motorhome so I have a bit of experience.

These things are houses on wheels and you're subjecting them to a continuous earthquake as you roll down the road. Screws loosen up. Things break. There's the whole grey/black water stuff to deal with (just be aware it's not mess free). Specific toilet paper to buy. Another house to outfit with stuff (bedding, towels, dishes that you'll be hand washing, pots/pans, etc.). Special license might be required for anything over 26k lbs or a trailer over 10k lbs capacity (it is in NV). 65' length max in CA.

On the positive side: no bedbugs from shitty hotels, sheets washed in your detergent, etc., AC between sessions, your food/drink at the ready. Bring your pet velociraptor if you wish. It's nice.

Whatever you buy, make sure it's on a standard truck chassis with a standard windshield, lights, etc., which most super C's should have.

Dynamax is a brand I looked at and lusted after -- their Freightliner chassis homes were very nice but just outside my budget.

Used toter homes are out there. They are on semi chassis and easily tow a stacker trailer.

Frankly, it's a huge crap to worth equation you're gonna have to do. Do you have a place to park this monstrosity? I had my motorhome at one place and my trailer at another. It's all I could find.

Unless you just have to have two cars at the track, I'd look at just finding another Cayenne and calling it good. The velociraptor can stay at the house with the pet sitter.

while i like the idea of an rv, you could probably buy the trailer and make it your own, then rent whatever toterhome you want and come out on top financially.
i know two sets of friends that have had very large 5th wheels for recreation, and another had a large rv that was pretty much a bus. it was a very large investment and turned out to not be what they envisioned and they got rid of them.
i'd like the idea of the use of a large rv that i don't have to store and maintain. unless you're a full time rv'er, owning doesn't make sense if you can rent.

hell, you could get a gooseneck stacker with living quarters and an f350 for less than a motorhome and a stacker. you could at least save a little bit with storing two cars inside the stacker while the stacker is stored and keep the truck at home. there is a fb group called "race trailers for sale" that someone turned me on to and sometimes some really nice, hardly used setups come up for sale.

These are all very wise points. I think I'll sit tight and maybe do the rental thing a bit to see how it goes.

I looked at toterhomes but then I figured I didn't want to deal with the whole semitruck thing.

Parking would be an issue but I've scouted out some RV parking areas that are close by that I could also leave the trailer.

Another option to consider is housing your cars at a shop and having them maintain, trailer and provide track assistance. It may sound expensive but I bet the breakeven is at least 100 track days not to mention the utter lack of stress.

To the above points, ask yourself if you are ready to now devote time to RV upkeep. Not only does it need all of the routine maintenance of a car, but now you have to keep the inside clean, maintain plumbing and electrical, and get extra inspections.

There's something to be said about just plopping down $100/night for a hotel and having nothing to worry about.

I love mine! Took the first trip last month and while there were a few hiccups I was very pleased with the ability to sleep at the track in my own mini home! Yes, it is somewhat inconvenient storing it 40 miles away but I wouldn't change a thing. Very pleased!

However, you're talking a Freightliner Super C and I have to believe that's more upkeep than my Dynamax Isata 5 28ss. I'm only 31 ft long so towing my 20 ft ATC has me at 55 ft in length.

BTW, Dynamax has a new model which could suit your needs. It's the Europa and while it's the same length as mine it's also on a Freightliner chassis and has more towing capacity.

If you have a business, Enterprise used to have diesel pickups for rent. They won't be leather with heated/cooled/massaging seats, but it could be a stopgap measure.

Used RVs can be a good option, if there's a good vehicle with all modifications and alterations. The image shown above is the good one to consider.
