and to clarify, the dealership he is buying through is not overcharging or charging the $500 delivery fee. South Bay is charging the courtesy fee for their time to get the car detailed and show the customer how to use the car. Some dealerships charge a fee to do it, others don't.

All this thing is very strange....
A car in production and no official launch. Some dealerships say they are still not taking orders, some other are already selling the car. In order posts, the statement was that the first production cars for the US were going to be in Jan, so I guess that was true. So when should this first car will be delivered? |

Ep: When is your production date supposed to be scheduled for? Was just curious, because I may fly back for a visit when mine is ready...I've got a lot of relatives in So.Mich, which isn't too bad of a drive from Newbold is it?

Status 112 too!
Hey! Looks like my M3 is in status 112 also! woot! I asked my dealer to print-out my order details from the ordering system just to make sure we have the right options I want in there before it can no longer be changed, and on the top it reads:
VIN: Prod.No.: 392xxxx Status: 112 - Scheduled for daily production pack Ac.Prod.Date: Model: 0837 M3 Coupe In-Service Date: Priority: 1 - Customer Sold Customer: my name . . . Port Loc.: CHSPOA Dest.Loc.: 00046331 Of course all the pricing says "Blocked" all the way down the options list but good to know the ball is rolling. Worse scenario, if the pricing turns out to be too obscene and I don't want it, I could always cancel. Dealer said "totally understandable if that were the case and selling it to someone else wouldn't be difficult since it's their first allocated M3" heh... it better be "understandable" after I've bought 4 cars from them over the last 3 years including an E60 M5. I entered this production number into the owner's circle website and sure enough, it's in the system already. |

Mark, Michigan is a really long drive from here. I wouldn't advise it.
And Epacy's car should go into production about a week before O.C. Kid's but I still don't have any other info for you guys. I don't know what's going on with BMW right now... And Neil usually keeps me in the loop. But he's been kind of crabby lately, j/k |

I wish you guys in IL could see it, it would just be such a hassle having it shipped to IL and then CA.

Welcome to the 112 club
As I posted in another thread, mine went 112 on Monday. Scheduled for early February production. We have a growing club!

You'll need to register an account to the bmwusa.com owner's circle site to be able to access tracking information. Once logged-in you have to add your incoming car's production number into your account and it will be able to pull the information from the system. Unfortunately, this can only be done on individual accounts and I doubt you can add someone else's production number to your own account. There are a handful of dealers that say they can't put in an order yet because not all dealers have received an allocated car with a production number tied to specs that can be modified. At most, some dealers can only enter an order into the configurator or order bank but it won't have an assigned production number. I have a friend who is first in line at another Chicago area BMW dealer but as of today, they still don't have an M3 in the system with a production number. Meanwhile, I'm already tracking mine but didn't put my deposit in until just recently. It seems to be crap shoot or perhaps some higher volume dealers get more priority than others. |
