Friendly ///M drivers....

weird topic but always wondered:

Who's run into that one friendly ///M Driver, that waves back and smiles and who's run into that dick that has an exhaust and thinks hes the shit and wont even look at you when you want to talk.

lets just say some are bone stock like me..!

just wondering why people can't be friendly. self concious or what?

lets hear

I never really wave, but I would not say I think i'm the shit when driving...If there is another M driver who needs to merge over lets say, I would certainly let him go over another vehicle...mods or no mods, IMO its all the same respect. Just my 2 cents

I passed an interlagos blue coupe on I5 north a few days ago. I gave him a big thumbs up. I think I shocked him at first, maybe he thought I was giving him the finger, but then he figured it out and gave me the thumb back.

One other thing I've noticed, if you're trying to merge into a crowded lane a lot of people wont give you a break when they notice you're in a BMW, but almost always another BMW driver will let you in. I just noticed that over the holiday weekend.

I've never met a friendly one on the street, but I sure have met plenty of those on the opposite end of the spectrum. Now, don't get offended people, since I'm sure it's just a coincidence, but a lot of them had Eisenmann on....

I played cat and mouse a bit with a guy an AW coupe last month, and the guy gave me a big smile/wave before I had to exit. Most of the people I've met have been friendly.

Then again, there was that E46 who thought he'd show off for his girlfriend and snake through rush hour traffic at 90+.

Hey, for the most part the guys I see wave and do the usual thumbs up but I did have this guy in an older M smile at me at the light and I thought he was being nice and then when the light turned green he blew out of there, and my car could have definitely killed him. I get more friendly waves and stuff from guys who don't hava an M.

Ran into both... I often look over to see if the other driver are aware of my presense and if they look, I will throw a thumbsup. If I dont get one back, that mofo is going down!

I've experienced the same, coldness from M drivers.

Totally opposite of motorcycle riders. With motorbikes, regardless of make, 90 percent of the people give you a nice wave. Real camaraderie.

M drivers seem a little different to me in that when you meet them outside their cars and you talk about your cars, they are very friendly. However, I always feel the cold shoulder when you see one on the road.

Indeed. Why can't we all be the same in and out of our cars?

Egos... Which is total BS. The reality is that if we drive these cars for the real reason - they are brilliant cars. We aren't superior because we drive them, the car is superior. We are just the same as every other schmoe out there....That's my 2cents anyway!

I am always friendly to other BMW drivers, however, sometimes I am deep in thought with things going on in my life, so forgive me if I don't flash my lights or give you a thumbs up. We definately do need more of the muscle car or motorcycle comraderie...

I just mind my own business and treat them as any other motorist out there. I don't think just because we have the same car that I am obligated to go out of my way to wave and stuff, nor be on the lookout for other M3s so we can share a "moment". I've met plenty of people in parking lots that make nice comments about my car or approach me with a question, ///M and non BMW people, and I am always friendly to these folks.

I make it a requirement to wave when I pass other ///M drivers on the track tho

I don't think its fair for people who drive stock and/or modded ///Ms to be labeled as unfriendly and/or cocks. Perhaps the odd few bad eggs that you stumbled across have severe insecurity or ego issues. Sad but true! Oddly enough its inevitable that there are some cocks who think they are the shit because they splurged more than the next person BUT its is also important to note that not all are like that. at end of the day its a matter of choice

There are some dick-heads in my brother Porsche club especially amongst the GT2 dicks and 911 Turbo going on about who has what etc. I personally have no time for prats who are pretentious.

PS: I still waive at MINI drivers, various BMW drivers and/or stunning girls driving whatever.
