My autozone does not have bmw specific tools. Has lots of universal tools, and often you can make do with them, but they are not always as easy to use.

The basic balljoint kit from Schmuck's and the like are quite different and the metric cups will damage your housing. Unless they recently started carrying BMW chassis specific tools, I have to disagree.

This makes the rear axle bushings a 30 minute job with hand tools. No free toolset will do the same.

Good points.

Depends on how much your time is worth.

This tool turns the rear end bushings into a 30 minute job without damaging your carrier. The free balljoint press from AZ is from HF. The cups do not align properly. Not only will you have difficulty using the tool, if your bushing is welded inside the housing, you will have to rent a tool like mine anyway, and you can damage your carrier. Is that part of the free service, too?

But still...

Pmmed,

Those auto zone tools don't have anywhere near the correct cup sizes, and this design copies the factory tool design with the threaded rod going inside the bushing to keep everything square.

I bought this kit as well only after trying all the auto zone tools that didn't work and tried many different tool from harbor freight. This is BMW specific and easy to use.

I bought it and got the job done quick. Now it seats there in my garage. I think OP is doing a good thing offering to others.

I appreciate that you are offering this up, curious if there is a similar tool for rear subframe and differential bushings?
