Last I had heard was $20k over coupe which means $60k to start!

cheers!
The E46 M3 exhaust weighs 48-49 lb. The E92 doesn't look much lighter. Easy way to save 15-30 lb. and probably better sound as well.

I still submit that base will be 65K USD.

Optioned out will be mid-70's.

I don't know. The sound is damn intoxicating now.

Excellent observation Swamp. The figure (as can be judged from the reactions) is simply too good to be true.

Another reason this figure is made up is the number of significant digits. We all know that there has been no official announcement. So, how can this guy specify it down to the dollar digit? Other magazines have been reasonable and using round numbers.

Sorry Epacy, don't mean to shatter your hopes. If it comes in below $60k, I'll ship you a Brembo upgrade kit as an act of reconciliation.

Furthermore, you are in So-Cal. Price will be higher. That is a no-brainer.
1) noone is not a word.

2) explain to me again why prices in southern california will be higher than elsewhere? i have an inkling that you might be referring to "mark-ups", but any remotely dilligent shopper will be able to find an M3 with no mark-up, even in southern california.

You guys are hilarious. I'd like to get involved in some bets like these! I have been known to propose many bets for big ticket items (such as my car, which is not at all that "big ticket" anymore actually) on the forum, but I am just too darn uncertain on this one. I think now I'd be quite confident saying $58k-$62k base but I can't figure out which side of the $60k "psychological" barrier it will be on.

We can start some kind of a betting pool or something. I would kindly like to point out that you are hedging though by spreading your bet on both sides of the $60k mark!

I agree completly 57,500-62,500, this $5k range will be determined by how "nicely equipped" the U.S. base model comes.

If it passes $70k no way Im buying it. I will just wait one year and buy a pre-owned one with 5k miles on it for $20k less. When you can already buy pre-owned M5's in the 60's, The M3 will take a huge hit on resale values if it gets into the 70's.

Can we all just argue about the base price please and not include options, dealer markup, sales tax or guzzler? Thanks.

"no-one, no one" Better?

Obviously I am talking about mark-ups. The price the dealer is quoting him surely will include some sort of a**-raping. There are lots of "non-diligent" shoppers who will pay that price.

Well, if I tell you now, you could have free reigns to spec every little thing out. Including the ever-so-popular dealer special, headlight fluid.

What I really want are those thin ugly plastic stripes that run along the side of the car some dealers put on every single car on their lot and charge $300 for!

Not a chance. If it based at $65,800 or more, BMW would lose half of its targeted market. $53,975 MSRP sounds right on target. 6 months ago I estimated the price would be $54,800 MSRP so if that price is accurate, I was only $825 off.

I think that some will jump on a Cayman S if base comes in more than 55-56. Most will insist on adding M Drive etc which will push it into the mid 60's pushing up profits and BMW knows this. Cayman S base is 59K, 49K for a base non S Cayman. Just my 2 cents worth. I drove a Cayman S with chrono pkg, optional exhaust, etc...was pretty nice but I still prefer the M3 long as they don't go crazy on the price.
