Are Kics R40 the only recommended nuts? Not sure if I want to spend that much on them.

You can get the shorter Kics and they're cheaper.
There are other locking sets like Blox however, I can't remember why I didn't buy them.

My OEM locking lug nut got stripped. Not stripped clean, but just enough where one or two of grooves in nut prevented the splines on the key from being inserted. If I were the only one touching my tires, then I'd keep them on. But it's the guy at the tire shop with a trigger happy finger on his impact wrench that leads me to conclude I'm better off without them.
Besides, who wants a wheel off a BMW? Where I live, it's the people with the '89, '90 Honda's that need locking nuts.

Looking into Blox or Muteki right now. Might go with the short Kics ones, but I love the look of extended.

The problem with the Kics is they rust very easy! Mine are so rusted I am thinking of buying either a new set or changing to a different type.
