That's not a bad thing! I do agree, the 7-series and M3 are of the same blood line, but share little else.

sad to say...but I would put my money on the chipped 750. Also depends on what kind of race? 0-60? 0-120? 60-120 ? The only chance the E93 M3 has, is in the 0-60. but 0-120 and 60-120, I think the 750 would take it.

Keep in mind, I am only saying this because its the E93, and having owned myself..the power just isn't what it should be IMO

I'm pretty sure the OP wasn't asking about who would win if he went to Laguna Seca or Watkins Glen. He meant a typical "street race" or "straight line race".

However, if he meant on the track, then needless to say even the E93 M3 would smoke the 750 on the track

WTH is this comparo??? The only thing these 2 cars have in common besides a badge is 4 wheels and steering wheel. 2 cars that have 2 complete different uses. This is like asking what could pull a bigger trailer, a Mustang or an F350??

I have both the 750li and an e92 M3. Completely different toys. Chipped 750 would pass well,but it weighs as much as a small tank. Don't want to push that much weight too fast. The runflats just give no confidence.

Ahh, the immaturity of youth. I just turned 50. I'd take a 7 or 5 series over my M3 any day, now. You can't drive an M3 at the limit on the street, so what's the point. I'll drive a chipped 750 every day and take my caged car to the track when I need to get my Ya Yas out.

1) I don't think there is a single person on this board that does not want more power. It can come in handy when driving and has nothing to do with street racing.

2) Fiscal responsibility is relative to your resources. The more money you have, the more options you have that will not affect your day to day standard of living or your retirement portfolio.......Steve

I'd say the E93 would win. I have a 750i and raced it against my buddy's E46 M3 vert w/ a catback and intake and it got him by half a car. The 7 is fast for a big sedan, and nothing beats it cruising on the highway. Smooth, quiet, solid. But a drag race against any E9x M3, the 7 would lose.

My point here was that, to my general knowledge, many of the M3 owners seem delighted by their choice of vehicle due to the fact that it performs well as a daily driver in addition to having the capabilities of being a true performer on the track. In my humble opinion, it does not make sense to own an e92 M3 entirely dedicated to track use. It seems very expensive (in addition to owning a 7 or 5 as well).

Also, I think there is more to your statement in #1. Everyone may want "more power" but "more power" almost always comes at a cost. I am sure there are several individuals on this board that opted for a 328 over a 335 because of the fact that the extra power doesn't really benefit their daily commute on a traffic filled 405, 101, 5, 10 etc. etc. To some it may not be worth the extra $$$$ for "more power".

On a final note, the majority of 7 series owners that I have seen on the road do not look like the "I want to chip this V8 type". There are always risks with modifying vehicles and I for one would stay away from chipping a 7 due to the potential warranty issues.

But then again, you own a Ferrari and I don't.
