I'd rather have an M3 than my car. I just couldn't afford one. I don't care about the tuning potential of a twin-turbo car.

. 335 just can't compare. I drove freinds 335's.. at first they were amazing, but once I test drove the M3.. lets just say theres a reason why bmw seperates the M and regular bimmers.

hahaha....yeah, had some kids in a 335 pushing me for a race. I'm at 450 miles right now so I can't push her until after the break in. Needless to say, even at low speeds the M is watched, challenged, and admired. You can be the admired or the admirer.

Me too. I never drove the M3 or considered it as it was way above my budget... at the time. Now it's within reason and I'm tempted to switch, 3 more weeks to the end of the year.

There one thing about 335i owner, once they were the hottest car in the market, some owners had some serious attitude and ego problem, They've tuned it, chipped it, and even coilover them or LSD 'em
at the end of the day, what do they have ? ... a overmodded 335i that is now off warranty, I know that some really are a M3 wannabe, that some even get used 6 yrs M cars as their secondary just to be called an M guy. Its amazing how these 335i think they are serious contenders for the new M3s. Porsches even drool when I floor it on the road. |

Please don't stereotype. I am a 335 guy having nothing but admiration and respect for M3. 335 is a decent car (in its class) but M3 is better obviuosly. That cheap talk of "oh, you can mod 135/335 and get an M3-killer at much lower cost" is amusing, at best. I bet someone can mode a Civic that can take an M3 on the straight, so what? |

But the M3 is in a class of its own, indeed the ultimate!

I had a guy in a 335 try and race me about two weeks ago. I had only about 800 miles on my M3 so I couldn't push the car. I live in an area with lots of hills and on my way 'up' home, I got a red light. I know the M has the hold for hills but I kept it in 1st and was moving up and down only about 6 inches or so waiting for the light... then the 335 pulled up behind me thought i was egging him for a a race and as the light turned, he pulled next to me and we both floored it, me to about 5k only though so of course he pulled away... i dont really do street racing anyway but it was fun to see how much attention the car gets. My son and I laughed because we think the guy thought he 'won'. I get challended every few days... G35s, hot rods, etc. I also got up next to a convertible white M6 with many MODS, dropped, exhaust, afermarket wheels, etc...but this guy really really did take off. He must have hit at least 80 or more on that same road up Serrano (in case you are reading...slow your *&^&% down!). The sound from his M6 was very high pitch and raspy.

I checked KBB and I purchased my car for nearly 50K (I put 3K down) and dealer trade in or private party is worth around 34-37K. This isn't a good time to take that hit... |

I owned a E90 335i 6MT (without mods) before this M3.
I love(d) it. A 'cheap way' more or less to get into E46 M3 territory(which I owned before the 335i) in a straight line, though the handling is not that bad as well compared to the E46 M3 stock. I missed my limited slip diff and wanted to PLUG AND PLAY with no warranty issues at all. That's why I chose the E90 M3. |
