IC. that is not the front subframe. that is part of the front radiator support, which is a plastic bolt on piece for the front end....

Recently just did a BMC drop in filter for my 08. I read multiple sites that the benefit and difference is more significant in pre lci 08 models because of the charcoaled filter. Slight bit more induction noise, but intake noise is nearly impossible to hear if you have a loud exhaust.

I was thinking of going MS stage II, but after hearing all the fitment issues and complaints Im not so sure anymore. I like Eventuri but for the money its worth and the tangible difference it makes, id rather spend this money on other more noticeable mods (coil overs/tires/etc). Il stick with my drop in for the next year as I am satisfied and just got it.

Zero fitment issues with the Macht Schnell intake, they fit very well and work as advertised. We'll be here if you change your mind later.

I'm sure that's a combination effect but I do think the MsStg2 makes a nice difference.
You're saying your intake/pulley/exhaust (stage 1??) is stronger than the filter/test pipe cars you've driven? Or you are also stage 2, and your intake/pulley/tune make you stronger? Trying to confirm your conclusion/data point.

I test drove a couple of test pipe + drop in filter M3 (seems to be a popular starting point for mods) one 2011 and one 2013 (likely newer DME) and my conclusion was that the car I eventually bought; 2008 stock tune (old DME in fact) MS Stg 2 intake, pullies, and Akra Exhaust felt so much stronger, especially in the low end. Felt quite a bit torquier. Again, not an apples to apples comparison, but I do think the pulleys help. I've added a stg 2 tune to my car since then so it's a completely different animal now.

It sounds nice but I've never had just a drop in filter, so I can't speak for comparison. I have had the MS Stage 2 on both of my E90 M3s (first one without scoops, current car has scoops).

Here is a video with the Akra rear section and MS test pipes:
