MPE updated version fitment

I recently installed an updated MPE (pressure relief holes added) and noticed that my tips extend about 3/4" further out compared to the original MPE's I've had. The connecting pipes are slid all the way in on mine. Anybody else notice this with their updated MPE? I find it odd for OEM fitment to be that different unless they purposely extended the updated MPE. It still looks cool and sounds nice and beefy as expected.

Did you have an E90 MPE originally and not know it?

e92/e93 MPE on both. The original was just about flush on the poke.

I have the updated 2nd generation version of the MPE, but I have an E90. The fitment is similar to your "original" MPE where the tips do not extend beyond the bumper. If I took a picture straight down like you did in your first post it would not show the ///M logos on the tips.

A side note, my connecting pipes to the muffler are all the way in, too. The only other things I can think of are to make sure your hangers are still in good condition and that the mating underneath the clamps from X-pipe to connecting pipes is straight.

If you have test pipes it might be the trick. I had a MPE on Stock X-pipe and it was flush. But once I put the test pipes the tips extended a bit out.

Did you do both measurements when the system was cold? It extends further when hot.

I can't complain, it does have a little more of an aggressive look extended. It is what it is unless I do some surgery...nah.

I also prefer the look of the new one more. Sunken tips don't look as aggressive.

Measured my old MPE and the new V2 I got yesterday and the tips are the same and they stick out the same. They are both 6 7/8 long...was hoping they would stick out more then the old ones did.

Better hope the shop still has them in a box or I'd be pretty upset they shorted you two new pipes

I did get the call a week later, he said BMW did not want the exhaust back and if I wanted it to come and get it! A good day!
