I'd say C63 closer to sport, but not quite there. Definitely firmer than normal on the M3.

i have always want the 2012 c63 amg sedan. but then i saw a black c63 amg sedan yesterday and I have to change my mind this time.
sorry but M3 all day for me. The amg just look too generic for me and really it is very hard to differentiate between the amg vs the regualr c63. on the m3, atleast you have the hood bulge, side vents, carbon roof, and m3 rims. on the c class, you can order amg rims for any model. this confuse me all the time because everytime I see a regular c, i though it was the amg model but it wasn't. the only way to tell is look at the amg badge. urg... if i am to fork out 70k for a car, i want mine to look special. |

Good... everyone has a choice and an opinion. I guess the AMG rims one can order are nothing like the M rims one can get on a 3 series or the $$M-Sport lines one can get, further blurring the difference between a true "M" and a dressed up 3 series, et cetera.
I think the C63 looks nothing like a regular C class coupe; actually I get more looks and compliments in the C63 P31, much like I did in my Z4M. However I don't care about these considerations. Further, my friends / co-workers used to rip on me and say my M3 looked like a regular 3 series... it's not even loud (stock) etc, etc. One will always get that when the car you own is a "hot-rod" model based based on the regular car. If you want something that looks special in this price range, go get a Mustang Laguna Seca, P-car or a Corvette etc. Neither the C63 (or whatever the next name is) nor the M3 will ever really be a 100% departure from the cars they are based on.

what do you mean nobody can identify it? The GT-R has way more road presence than the M3.. There is no denying that, i do agree with you on the interior.. Looks cheap. |

Of course it looks cheap. It's a Datsun. Some Sentra bits and software from a video game to track your lateral forces, an ugly ass exterior whose excuse is "every angle is designed to channel airflow over the rear spoiler to create more downforce" BLAH BLAH BLAH, still ugly as sh*t.
Fast as all hell though. |

M on the other hand, is instantly recognized as a BMW first, then as a BMW on steroids! Much better pedigree, like most things German... I don't think so about the road presence. My opinion. Last edited by Alpha///M; 05-26-2012 at 04:58 PM.. |

You really don't know what you're talking about, do you? The C63 AMG Black Series is a limited run C63 on steroids. Unlike BMW which seems to like making limited editions that have matte paint shemes and nothing else, MB tuned the 6.2L V8 to 510 hp and 450+ ft lbs of torque. It also added a couple of different options like the track pack and a rear Carbon Fiber diffusor that actually serves a purpose. The C63 AMG has different wheels, different hood, different bumper, different diffusor, and different exhausts. If you can't tell the difference between the wider track of an C63 vs a normal C class, you're blind. |

They're interesting...but they have trouble going fast. Not that they lack power or potential...however it seems they have trouble putting the power down whenever I see them...especially if it's cool, especially if they're on street tires, especially if it's from a dead stop.
I've seen 4 of them at the dragstrip over the past 3 years 1. bone stock other than rear drag radials - ran high 12s @ 111-112 all day in good DA (around 0 feet) 2. modded (no idea what but LOUD!), drag radials - ran low 12s @ mid teens MPH in decent DA (around 1000 feet) 3. bone stock on street tires - this was the weirdest one. It was a cool day (50 fahrenheit/10 celsius), great density altitude (0 to +300 all day) and he couldn't even SNIFF the 12s. Mid to high 13s all day @ 110+mph. Here's him vs. my bone stock 2008 Audi RS4 Here we go again...this time I blew the 3rd to 4th shift , but still won pretty easily. |

The C63 owner needs to learn how to launch. Doesn't seem to be doing a good job of rolling in the throttle. It's not an easy car to launch but you can definitely do better than that!

Absolutely... a C63 is a low 12s car in the 1/4 with a decent driver. C&D had it at 8.6s to 100mph (equipped with the perf pack). The RS4 is not close unless the C63 driver can't drive. From a roll it would be no contest as the driver's ability to launch is then way less important. If stop light races are important to someone, the C63 is hard to beat without spending a lot more money.

Performance pack will trap ~118 and hit low 12's all day with a competant driver.

i think the c63 and the m3 server completely different purpose. They ar cross shopped and talked all the time as they compete in the same segment. But i think the Benz are cruisers and the m3s are clubracer car.
LoL. I have a m3 and had 2008 911 c2s before. The c2s was a great car, faster, better handling and better looking IMHO, but for some reason i feel so connected and attached to the M3. I will have separation anxiety when it's time to let go. |

I feel as though if the c63 came with the development package (or make it cheaper), wider tires, and a manual it would really be something to decide on. I just went to the dealership last night and to me I love the look of the c63 and everything about it. But the skinny tires and having to drive automatic is what is making the decision hard. I almost purchased a gtr however after driving it, I really felt like I was just driving a fast Nissan. I haven't driven the new DCT model but the new 2011 I drove was just not what I thought it was going to be like.
Crazy thing about the m3 is that no matter how much I think about getting new cars, showing up, and I have been very close this past week with purchasing, I always get back in the 6mt m3 and think why would I need to change just yet. I think I'm in the calling for a SC.

The cars do have different personalities with the M3 appearing more track focused and the C63 more cruiser (given huge torque, however mine has a LSD, 6 pot front / 4 pot rear brakes, great exhaust note and a track timer), but are both wannabe "club-racers". Neither of these is a real club-racer; both are for the boulevard racer crowd. How many M3 owners actually track their cars vs. discussing the latest trends in dropping cars, shiny wheels, body trim, etc. Nothing wrong with it, but let's be clear on what the demographic of these cars is. I will admit the C63 has some great adds (which I mentioned above) and needs a few things stock, such as wider tires and better cooling.
