OEM 19" Style 220 Wheels and Michelin Pilot Super Sports
Has anybody successfully fitted Michelin Pilot Super Sports (front 255/35/19 and rear 275/35/19) on the OEM 19" Style 220 wheels? How was the fitment?

No problem, it's fine and you could put a 10mm spacer on rear...the look of this tire is amazing.

Not lowered. There are a couple of pics on this thread. They are the GTS wheels.

I just received my set of 255/35/19 and 275 35/19 from tirerack.com. Amazing, I ordered late Monday night and got them on Tuesday, and only paid for the slowest shipping! Basically got next-day shipping at the ground shipping rate.
Also, I ended up ordering the 19" OEM M3 GTS (matte black) ZCP wheels from getbmwparts.com. The rear wheels are on back order right now, but I got an e-mail saying that they've been ordered and would arrive to the vendor in 2-4 business days. I anticipate getting all four wheels by the end of next week and can hopefully get the wheels and tires mounted next Saturday. Pictures to come in a new thread! I replaced the rear 265 PS2s with 275 Super Sports mounted on the OEM 220 wheels. The sidewall is nearly vertical providing a square look. It looks like a serious track tire that's the perfect width for this wheel IMHO.

I can't speak to your specific fitment, but I recently installed a set of 275/35-18 PSS on Apex wheels on my E92 M3, and I am very favorably impressed with the tire after only a few street miles. They balanced with road force numbers between 7 and 15, which is good in my experience. Even with the 30mm wider fronts, they are quieter than the Contisport3's, with no significant tramlining. Turn in is sharper than the PS2, so I assume the sidewall is stiffer, which is a source of disappointment for some folks with the PS2. I cannot yet comment on overall handling qualities, since they are barely broken in, with less than 100 miles, and no track time yet. But if your primary use is a street tire, I believe you will like the PSS very much.

I have stock 220 wheels and am running 245/35 front with 12mm spacers and 275/30 rear with no spacers. I had been thinking about 275/35 rear but the sales rep from CEC/AC Schnitzer here in West LA recommended against it. He says AC Schnitzer recommends 275/30 rear.
Have had the tires for less than a week now and love them. |
