Ya but first round points stand for almost nothing. The people who did well the first day could see most of their teams lose in the second round. And the people who didn't do so well in the first round see their teams they picked right advance, then they get double the points. Same works with later rounds.

You could have picked complete crap but if you managed to get like 5 teams right and they actually make it to the Elite 8 or farther, you will most likely find yourself somewhere near the top of the points standings.
